Swapping 2026 XLT rims to 2026 XL?

Bought my XL yesterday and I absolutely love it. It has everything I wanted but the steel rims dont thrill me. I have never swapped rims before so excuse me if these are ignorant questions. I see people selling their XLT takeoffs in the marketplace and am thinking of maybe getting a set if its a straight swap. Can I just take those rims to a shop and have them swap my tires onto them? Would I be able to just swap the TPM sensors with the tires or is there more involved in it?

Things I learned when swapping wheels on my 2026 XL.

• 25+ model year went to a new TPMS sensor from prior years. So any take offs that have a TPMS sensor, you will need to find out what year they came off of as you may not need to swap in your own TPMS sensor.
• Any year Maverick wheel will swap in with the caveat as mentioned of the TPMS sensors
• Any year Bronco Sport wheel will also swap in and they changed TPMS sensors in 2025+ also.

I eventually found a set of 2026 Bronco Sport Badlands like new take offs with TPMS sensors that was plug and play. I did have to buy a set of 14mm thread size capped lug nuts.

I changed the factory tires and wheels out with 98 miles on them. Sold them to an XL owner for $500. His looked good and mine did too. win/win.

Maybe newer Escape 2022 and up wheels since they're built on the same platform as the Bronco Sport and Maverick!!

Bronco Sport. That second word is critical. Wheels from the full-size Broncos will not fit Mavericks.

Ford went to a different frequency in 2025 on their TPMS.

Just use the TPMS sensor you currently have in yours. I bought some brand-new take offs from a 2025 Ford Bronco but they did not come with the sensors. I could live with that as I only paid 500 bucks for the rims and tires. Still have the original XL rims/tires and need to swap the sensors over. It is like $ 100.00 at Tire Discount.

Can probably use Lincoln Corsair, Land Rover Evoque and Escape wheels too but probably different offsets. Bronco Sport wheels are the best match.

Bronco sport wheels use 12 mm studs instead of 14 mm that the Mavs have but sport wheels are over sized and will fit ,just make sure that lug nuts seat well into the wheel

You'll also want to get a proper set of 20 lugnuts in M14 x 1.5in. You CAN use the steelie lugs but since they're open end the threads will be exposed to road gunk and I just feel it looks wrong. My tire guy said the steelie lugs would work but would scrape the wheel lug seats a bit each the they were installed. Look at reviews and don't get the cheapest you find, cheap ones rust out quickly

Yes. But you will also have to swap over your TPMS sensors and get suitable lug nuts. The steel wheels have open lugs whereas the alloy wheels need capped lugs.
