Hey everyone! I have a Maverick XL AWD. When I turn right you can hear a clunking sound in the left suspension / wheel area. Anybody else have that problem?

Hello, 3FTTW8F98NRA05888

I also have bad hood shaking, the rear glass is loosing its coating on the edges, and the radio looses connection with my phone constantly.
My local Ford Dealer is Webb Ford Highland, IN
It has been there for the hood shake and radio. They said yes the hood shakes but there was no fix yet. The radio they said is working fine. Its not working correctly.
Thank you,
Matt

I'm having this exact same issue. Did you get a resolve? It feels like it's a clicking / popping noise coming from under the driver side floor board area. I can almost feel it in my feet.

Hey there. I have not gotten it resolved yet. It is worse when you turn right. Have you noticed it that way?

Mine happens while turning, but also at times while going straight. It seems to be noticeable at lower speeds (35mph or under.) I had a random realization today that if I lightly stomp or put extra pressure on the floorboard area in front of the driver seat that there is a tin / pop noise. I'm almost wondering if it's a structural issue.

Hi there. This clicking concern doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your Maverick. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.

Yes, I am having the same issue. A loud clunking noise when the truck hits a dip while driving on a highway or when I am driving in a parking lot and go over a speed bump. It started doing this around 8,200 miles. Brought it to the dealership and they said they tighten suspension components and greased the joints. That did not solve the problem and it is getting progressively worst - the truck now has 9,200 miles.

Did you try adjusting the rubber stoppers under the hood

I'll jump in on this thread also. I am having a similar problem but when I turn the wheel to the left, especially when doing larger turns at slow speeds like when parking. Feels like something knocks the floorboard right under my feet. Have an XL Hybrid with less than 1K on it. I have an appointment at the dealer for next Friday (11/18) for them to look at it. I'll give a report on what happens. They already said that if it needs parts, it could be a long wait :-/. I'd be happy to share my VIN and dealer if Ford wants it.

Ok, I think I may have solved my own mystery, thankfully before embarrassing myself at the mechanic (just in front of you all); but maybe I can serve as a cautionary tale. The clunk had gotten so bad so quickly that when I got to work, I pulled out the cheap aftermarket floor mat I had on the drivers side (My Maverick shipped without the floormats and I'm still waiting on them to come in) to see if there was any evidence of what was hitting under my feet. I couldn't see anything there or in the wheel well that could be causing the noise/sensation. I put the mat back and went in to work. I had no idea what it could be (CV joint?) but made an appointment to get it checked.

However, driving home that evening - the noise had completely vanished - nothing - as right as rain. Must be cold related I thought. This morning was cold - this would do it. Still nothing. Still perfect. WTF? Got to work and this time took a GOOD look up under the driver side foot well. Where the steering column meets the floor, part of the steering mechanism is exposed and there is a linkage there with a large, exposed bolthead that when you turn the wheel, spins around and around. And if you get a cheap plastic floormat jammed up against it - that bolthead will catch the edge of the mat and go "clunk" when you turn the wheel enough. Forehead slap. Now to cancel that appointment....

Having a similar clunking noise with mine and a wobble. It appears to be something with the CV joint. I installed a new CV thinking the original was bad, but still have the same issue. When I installed the new one I noticed a far amount of play where the CV enters the transmission. The clip at the end of the CV is locked in and holding properly. No resolution yet. Only noticing issues at low speeds 10-30mph.
