I'm just trying to give back to the group where/when I can.
And I am sorely disappointed with my usual go-to baseplate maker, Roadmaster. They really could have done similar to Demco and left the shutter system intact. I feel they should have been aware that their installs have the posibility of causing warranty denials. That active shutter system is no big deal...until it is used for a warranty denial because the system is claimed to have an effect on heat as well as mileage. I can't understand why they chose to destroy it.
I've never used Blue Ox, so no experience EXCEPT to note the Maverick failures here in the group.
Kevin at Demco probably got way tired of Daniel and I through the process, but I am really happy with the result. I've never had any Demco product before, and I used a Roadmaster RM-034 adaptor set for my Falcon 2 towbar to Demco baseplate, since Demco was about 2 times the price!
I guess I'm on a crusade to save lower active-shutter systems. I think there are too many folks just asking an installer to "put a baseplate on" without realizing that they are not all the same. I wish for no warranty denials in their future. My ultimate position is that Ford should make a "Tow package" consisting of wiring and baseplate. I'd certainly have paid $1000 or even more for a Ford optional package.
