Strange Turbo Spooling Noise in Hybrid

My GF has the Tesla and the recognizable motor noise... I hear it in both vehicles. This is a different noise. It's a belt or gear engaging.

You also have that planetary gearset that's part of that electric motor.

No. It's the geared driven generator

I hear the same.

For me, I'll drive ~1000ft from my house to the corner (usually electric only), stop, turn, and as I begin accelerating on the main road (engine kicks in) I'll hear a faint noise like a siren waning. I've gotten used to it but I still glance in my mirrors just in case.

Besides the actual electric motors, you have electric motors for the A/C, the brake booster is electric, but POSSIBLY you're hearing the hybrid cooling system boosting up?

There are motors and cooling tubes for the high voltage battery.

FWIW, in my garage the AC kicking on sounds like a Jet Turbine spooling up
