Picked up my XL Hybrid in shadow black last week and have been on a spending spree getting stuff to do a 90s mini truck/aussie ute style build!

Current plan:
Eibach lowering springs
KEKO/OEM style chase rack
Bull bar from Broadfeet
Underbody LED lighting
LED Bed lighting
Interior LED lighting
Running boards? (If enough clearance after lowering)
Black painted steelies
Custom 90s Solo Cup livery
Chase rack lights
Waterproof boat speakers mounted to the chase rack.

I May upgrade to alloy wheels if I can find a set I like, but I think painting the steelies black will look good with the shadow black for the time being.

Pic of my truck plus some inspiration photos!

Awwwww S#!!!....... Can't wait to see your finished product. Keep in mind, the lowered mini-truck look started in the mid 70's, was all the rage from 78 to late 80's and died by the late 1990's. The best lowered mini trucks in my opinion (so please don't go into a verbal attack) were the 1976-78 Datsun pickups. Shells that were the same height as the cab were put on them and the rear walls were cut out to make the entire interior from the cab to the end of the truck bed.

Carpet, insulation, refrigerators, sound systems and yes.............your perverbial "mattress" was included.

I mean, these trucks were perfect for the lowered look. And believe it or not, the Ford Courier (1976-77) was a close second lowered.

Yeah I love the old Datsuns! I don't think I've ever seen one in person though, they're pretty rare nowadays.

Today, I saw an old Dodge Dakota sport softtop convertible from about 1992, for the first time I can remember. Almost shit my pants but caught it in time. OP would have loved it too.

I never knew those existed! They must be pretty rare because I don't think I've ever seen one on the road. My grandpa had a blue dakota sport but his was newer than that. I think it was a 2000 or 2001. We had a lot of fun together cruising in that little truck!

I looked it up after my comment. At 44 y.o., I don't think I had EVER seen one or even heard of it until yesterday. Not valuable, but "one of the rarest Mopars on the planet."

Could not agree more on the Datsun! Here is my Datsun and today’s version with the Mav.

Bull bar arrived today, hopefully I'll have time to install it and get some pics in the next few days. In the meantime I've been looking at wheel options. The lack of chrome or retro anything in our bolt pattern is disappointing, however I do like the grey Sparco Terra wheels. They have a bit of a rally vibe that might go well with my bull bar, chase rack, and lights. Let me know what you guys think! I want to keep stock wheel size so i dont have to buy new tires (and Michigan roads suck ass on low profile tires...)

Got my lowering springs and bull bar installed today, along with a set of window deflectors. Chase rack is supposed to be here tomorrow and a set of chrome Drag DR80 wheels should arrive Thursday or Friday.
