Stop Safely Now - Check Engine Light

1,200 miles in now in my hybrid. In the past 200 miles, I have pulled a check engine light 3 times. On 2 of those occasions, I was full throttle up hill before receiving a "Stop Safely Now" accompanied by a check engine light that remains on. Power drops me to 20mph while I pull over.

Truck immediately cranks and drives fine after working through some start/stop delay kinks. No codes pull even while the check engine light is illuminated. Headed back up to the dealer tomorrow to drop it off.

Has anyone else seen this issue? I've seen some older hybrid models from Ford with this issue, but no Maverick commentary on it.

Your OBD scanner might only be pulling codes from the PCM. Could be a logged fault in another computer.

I along with a few others have had this issue. Speeding up merging onto the highway I got the stop safely now warning and CEL. I took it to the dealership and they said it was transmission slippage issue. It's been sitting at the dealership for a month now with waiting for parts (engine dampener). It is strange that you were not able to code though. Yours may not be related.

Good call. Pulled P0811, POE71 and P1920 with the correct reader today. You'd think the Ford tech would have thought of this.

Hi Paul, I took the Maverick in and they replaced the clutch damper which involved removing the transmission. It was fine after but I did have another issue about a year and a half later, where my maverick completely turned off on a interstate. They were not able to replicate the issue so I eventually traded in the Maverick for a Nissan frontier.

Thank you for your response and sharing what happened.
I got mine Maverick 2022 Hybrid in to the service dept early this week and I received a call today from them saying there were some codes that popped up regarding the transmission. So they're sending it to that department and they'll know more next week. Maybe it's the same thing. Interesting
