Hybrid engine shut down "Stop safely now"

Driving Sunday at highway speeds on the Beltway here in Baltimore, and the darn thing shuts down on me with this warning. Towed to dealer, no information yet as to cause and solution. Second NHTSA report made. Previous was for ACC accelerating instead of stopping for stopped vehicle in traffic. Also have a faulty wiper washer fluid leak/sensor. Any advice?

If yours meets the criteria then I would file the lemon claim. You do not have to accept the buyback. I got my truck fixed and $5k from Ford for my troubles.

Your poll missed the most important selection - KEEP. That makes your poll useless. Also the lemon laws do not work like that. All you need is the 24S33 software update to resolve the issue.

Wait/keep either way... and 30 days unrepaired(all added together) in maryland (or 3 problems) in warranty period unrepaired can constitute lemon law activation. Each state is different and I've already spoken with an attorney. Filing paperwork today with Ford(cert. mail) for the first of 3 steps. Thanks for the input.

No advice, just want to thank you for reporting your issue to NHTSA. That is the only way for consumers to hold FoMoCo accountable if the issue is widespread. Obviously it was scary for you, not what one expects from a nearly new vehicle.

We don't know what the issue is. That could be the issue.

Sorry to hear this. Good luck with whatever happens next. Keep us informed on what they find was the cause and the fix. Hopefully it is just the update, but again, I can't say I'd trust the truck after that either way.

1 Week down, 2nd Ford Ev cert. Tech to come to the dealership and try to diagnose. Awaiting loaner swap to a truck from an Escape. Missed a good mountain bike weekend, hopefully Ill hear something this week about how they're going to fix the truck.

Well, it's been over a month since I've seen that my battery is fully charged. ACC is acting up and the Stealership is getting again in the morning. I am likely to proceed to the next step on the lemon laws here in MD now. I will be submitting another report to NHTSA on another incident of accelerating and "forgetting" there is a car in front of me.

You know what never accelerates at the wrong time? Basic cruise control.

We have an upper end Toyota with adaptive cruise and it is scary. It brakes at the last minute and accelerates too hard when someone leaves your lane, etc.

It's the technology. Stoopid.
