I purchased a new 2025 Maverick XLT a week and a half ago. First days speakers sounded fine, but third time I was driving the truck (3rd day I think), the driver's door speaker went from clear to more muffled/quiet. It still puts out sound, but it just sounds... different. It almost seems like a deadzone, but if I get close it still has sound. It's particularly noticeable as I mostly listen to audio books. I've tried to adjust the balance, and that can compensate for it some, but it doesn't fix the issue. I know many users complain about the base speakers, but initially these sounded okay. I have considered upgrading/replacing the speaker to see if that fixes the issue, but I am also concerned is the issue the speaker itself or something else and I don't want to replace the speaker if it won't fix the issue. I have considered taking it in to service, but I'm also not sure how good they would be at chasing a speaker sound issue. I thought I would bring it here to see what the group thinks. Any thoughts?

If the truck is under warranty, have the dealer fix it. When fully functional, the sound quality may be mediocre, but you paid for and are still entitled to 100% of that mediocrity.

As far as the root cause, it's hard to say from a distance, but it could be a speaker defect, a wiring defect, a software glitch, a head unit hardware glitch, or as simple as something in the door becoming dislodged.

This is exactly why I'm hesitant to just try to replace the speaker, that it could be one of these other things

I wouldn't hesitate since it's under warranty. Have your dealership replace it, and if it is still present then that's either wiring or the audio module.

Then after everything is working well for a month or so, you can go ahead and upgrade the front speakers if you want. Or right away after repair, really.

That's probably the best course. I appreciate the sounding board
