Spark plugs

Hey Mavericks ! Happy Weekend . Question: Any one replaced the spark plugs on the 2.0 Ecoboost? DIY ? Dealer? Local mechanic? Easy? What new plugs did you use ? Mileage when changed ? Any issues! I'm just curious.

I believe many vehicle manufacturers are saying spark plugs can last up to 100K miles. While there may be some I doubt that many Maverick owners are anywhere near that kind of mileage.

I was just wondering. Had an '05 F-150 that the owners manual stated 100,000 mile change interval ....those were the plugs that got broken off in the head. My personal mechanic has said to NEVER listen to that 100,000 mile change interval. I'll probably do mine around 60,000.

I had a 2008 Honda Fit. . At 80 K miles one of the coils went bad of course in middle of winter. Since i was changing all four coils I said might as well do the plugs too. They were also rated for 100K. Well they looked almost NEW at 80K miles. I believe they were iridium plugs of some sort. If ford uses plugs like those in my long gone honda they really do last. No idea about them breaking off in head. Mine came out no issue at 80K. It was 20F outside.

I was recently reading an article that proposed Ecoboost engines should have them changed at 20,000. Piqued my curiosity and I have yet to see another similar suggestion so I wonder if someone had the wrong fuel, gap, ???

I changed the plugs on my son's 2008 Honda Civic at 100,000 miles. They looked very good. Iridium plugs.

On the 4.6 ford 70,000 seemed to be the number when one would misfire.

I had 2 CNG vehicles that were brutal on plugs. I chose ruthenium plugs which are rated above platinum. They are less prone to misfire and do last. I would not change them until 50-60k on an EB, and later on the hybrid. Use anti seize if you ever want to get them out again! ( I’m sure everyone will have an opinion on this, just like filters and oil)

Thanks for everyone's response. Was at my dealership last Thursday for an oil change, tire rotation ( part of the maintenance package I bought) . Asked the service manager, had said they don't need to be done until 100,000 miles . But being that it's the 2.0 turbo , I'll probably have them done around 70,000 miles . Don't want any turbo related issues.
