I have hundreds of CD’s at home and still play them on a transport and DAC, but in my Maverick I prefer streaming services. I have tried Apple Music, Amazon, and Spotify, but Tidal is superior for audio quality. I love the B&O system in the Lariat. No, it doesn’t boom on the bottom and sizzle on the top, but that’s a good thing for the music I listen to.

I had Tidal for around 2 years until they dropped the Military $5.99 plan and doubled it to $10.99.

Honestly don't really notice much of a quality difference in the Spotify I now use. Been on a family plan that I paid $4 for on eBay around 4 years ago.

I've got an old USB Classic with my entire library on it. I hook it up to the USB port, but the Ford Sync is horrible with it. It constantly locks up, skips songs, pauses between songs. I expected more. I'll probably look into the CD player down the road.

Reviews of CD players say they do the same thing. I've only used mine for two long drives so far (about 10 hours each time), and it worked fine.

Using the phone to play music is great-until I get a phone call! Or need the GPS...
Not sure what you mean- I use android auto for all those, and it works 100% awesome about 99% of the time. Sometimes the truck screen freezes up, but that's not the phone's fault.

Android auto pauses the music for phone call, mutes it for GPS directions, then music comes right back on.

CDs are to cheap streaming what a good old analog recording is to CD. When recordings are done digitally some of the sounds/vibrations that the human ear cannot detect are not on the recording. Music in its purest form has far more of an effect on the human body than digital music in many cases because of this loss of sounds that can't be "heard". Music is meant to be heard AND felt by the body.
Except unless you're using a really old analog amplifier, using vinyl with a modern system (probably anything with a remote control the last 20 years) it's converted into digital then back to analog.

Ugh. That doesn't give me much hope. Now I'm less inclined to get one. It would be nice if someone would make a blue tooth enabled music device (not a phone). My issue is that I have the final iPod Classic. It has the largest storage option available and I have over 1500 CD's worth of music loaded on it. I don't want that much data on a phone.

Can't you connect that iPod via the USB or USB-C jack?

Anyway, read the reviews for the CD players. The one I got was like $67. I felt it was cheap enough to take the risk. It worked fine. (Reviews indicate that longevity may be an issue, though.)

This is true. But sometimes the GPS gives me way too many notifications, and it interrupts the enjoyment of my music.

Running Google Maps via Android Auto along with my new CD player, it turns down the CD audio for notifications. Also, with Google Maps showing on the touchscreen, I couldn't figure out how to view the audio controls at the same time. I could work volume and switch tracks via the steering wheel, but I learned that when I put a new CD in, I had to unplug the phone's USB-C jack to get the CD playing, and then when I plugged the phone back in it went right to the map.

I have iPhone. I don’t drive or use the map very often so it’s really not that big of a deal to me. I just wanted to whine about something! Everything else about my truck I love.

Does AA pause the media, or just mute it and continues to play it? I often listen to podcasts, and in my current vehicle, the audio technology mutes audio when I'm taking a phone call, but doesn't pause it. So when I'm done with the call, I've missed any podcast content that was playing while I was on the phone. Hoping that AA actually pauses the media and doesn't just mute it.

I connect it through the lower dash usb jack and run the cable up into the glove box. My biggest gripe is that it constantly locks up my iPod. I have to pull it out of the glove box, hard reset and wait.

Just rip 'em to your file format of choice and put them on your phone.
Yep. I’ve got about 600 songs on my iPhone. I get in the truck, lay the phone in the charging pad, pull it up on the screen and rock out.

You can put each album into it's own folder... makes it very easy.
Agreed. Popping cds in sand out while driving a much bigger hassle
