Great thread, I was trying to figure out how to control this. I must have been pushing it inadvertently. When I come down my driveway which is 1/2 mile of 20 percent slope it holds whatever speed the truck is going unless you press the accelerator. It also hold your stop without your foot on the brake until your press the accelerator pedal. Kind of an eerie feeling when you don't what is going on.
Those are different features you're describing. Grade Assist and Auto Brake Hold respectively.

How do all these systems work together?

Using L on a hybrid will maximize the regen braking, however, be aware of what is going on behind you because the brake lights won't automatically come on.

I drive in L all the time on my 2013 C-Max Plug In, I ease my left foot onto the brake pedal to see regen just enough to turn on brake lamps, my C-max has almost 115k miles on the original brakes!!!

yep, saw all that, but the hybrid does not have gears so this definition [of the "L" button] doesnt hold, its transmission is very simple using speed ratio variance between ICE and electric motor.
The section of the manual dealing with "Automatic Transmission" applies to both ECO and Hybrid. When there is a part of it that applies only to one or the other, it is marked like this:
Ford Maverick single pedal driving / max regen button for hybrid (It does exist!) 1653689015224
Ford Maverick single pedal driving / max regen button for hybrid (It does exist!) 1653689060159

Given that, I would assume that the description in the manual for "LOW(L)" applies to both ECO and Hybrid unless it is marked otherwise (which it isn't).
Ford Maverick single pedal driving / max regen button for hybrid (It does exist!) 1653689449995

[NOTE: The Hybrid does vary the ratio between the ICE and/or electric motor and the drive wheels. The ratio varies from Low to High continuously instead of discretely -- like an X-speed automatic would -- but it varies all the same.]

I tested it a little on the drive home today. At somewhere between 30-40 mph or lower it off-throttle regens at half the charge bar like Eco mode. At 50 mph it immediately went full bar regen when zero throttle.

I figured something else out. If you go into tow or slippery mode. Hill descent is engaged even on my bare bones xl that does not have a Hill descent button. It kind of acts like low.

Plus you are on the throttle longer to get to your stop when you are taking that regen. In regular mode you let off much earlier and coast from farther back.

And on a side note, when in low and letting off the throttle you are abruptly slowing down without the brake lights coming on. Not great for visibility
Coasting like I have been doing does not engage the break light either. That has worried me, but it has nit been an issue.
