A DIY Bam-Bed substitute with two drawers on slides. Can use as a base for camping, truck tent.

YES! I've been thinking on this for the whole winter so now that it's warm enough outside to do some of this work I'm going to do something very similar.

The BamBed is awesome! One of the most useful things for the bed. In the picture below I have a full size bike work stand stored below along with biking gear. Made my trip to the store super simple to load and unload.

I had budget left since my Maverick was a cheap build, so I got a bed cap.

Just got a BamBed and I made the ski rack last fall. Usually it's one or the other, but I'm trying both. 4 bins (10 gal each) fit under the bam bed and the back two I attached ropes. Chair fits in the front. Should be good for camping once I remove the ski rack.

Love the cross bars. I had asked in a post about doing something like that to support a platform to sleep on. I think spacing them up 2” with an additional piece at the end would get me what I want for height to clear my bins. Thanks for sharing. Hope to get something made in the next couple weeks.

Having a topper you dont really have to worry about securing stuff too much unless you are hauling really heavy items of lumber. But I do like the roof net and cargo hangers I made. It allows me to get more creative with strapping things. It opens up a third dimension to get the tensioning mechanism out of the way of the cargo. The net absorbs extra straps, dog treats, frisbees, leashes, Also is a great spot to hold pizza.

Based off the cross bars for the ski rack posted here, I made this raised floor. It will fit six Plano bins under it if I want, or other misc things. And allows me to have a bed above for single camping. I’m 5’5” and barely fit at an angle. With more storage up front. And a canopy for the back to have rain / sun protection.

I liked your PVC divider so I made one out of extra pieces instead of buying a 2x6”.

This divider is great for keeping Costco boxes in place. I also added water bottle crates for smaller loose items.

PVC is a good call. for me it will be easiest to fit right. i have a bedrug, so some velcro at the bottom will cover any laziness on my part.

Coleman 150 qt cooler. Flipped the drain spout. With a spray in bed liner it fits snuggly between the fenders. Perfect waterproof storage container. With a bed cover in place it has to be slid back to open the lid but a great solution.

Earlier in this thread, I posted photos of my truck bed.. Since then, it has been subject to numerous additions and mods. Mabett's and Maxzina's product lines are my go to sources for much of what I do with my Maverick. I installed Mabett’s sliding bed divider some time ago. Since my Maverick did not come with the OEM cargo bed side rails, I ordered the bed divider and side rail combination. Right away,, I added DIY adjustable heavy and lightweight tie downs anchor points. The heavier tiedowns are positioned toward the front of the bed, the lighter toward the tailgate. I also added a set of tool brackets to the divider itself. I further modified the divider to allow it to slide and be secured anywhere along the length of the rails without the need for a tool.

Maxzina sells self-retracting ratcheting bed tiedowns. As originally designed, the tie downs were fixed in the upper corners at the foot of the bed. I wanted more flexibility in using them to assist in securing oversized cargo. I modded the tie downs incorporating a fabricated bracket permitting them to be positioned and secured anywhere along the side rails as with the divider. Since them. Maxzina has offered the tie down with the same feature to slide along their proprietary side rails.

Most recently,, Maxzina released a Molle panel to fit up against the front wall of the truck’s bed .I added it to my bed along with another pair of ratchet tie downs qt the upper corners of the bed divider and corresponding anchor points to the front panel.

Throw in some mesh cargo nets and I’m prepared to securely haul my wife's next yard sale find,

That tool box is screwed into a 2x4 sitting in that rear divider space, also screwed into a couple other 2x4 blocks on the front so it sits level and doesn't rock.

Spaced so a common 2 gal fuel container can sit there on back with tailgate closed. Also the existing screw holes in bottom of box made it happen anyway.

Handles on the sides. If full bed is required - it is removable with the attached divider - slowly since it needs to go up a bit before it can spin enough to clear the cover rails (hoping that's a theft deterrent if required). Loaded heavy need help, if not then by myself.

Water resistant/proof if I had to leave bed cover open in the rain.

Sits under the cover just fine, bed cover supports don't flap & hit it.
Space under box for flattish items that aren't too wide, or long. (guess I could have used short blocks on back side that still went into the divider indents but left the center clear)
And as shown, enough space for the netting, and to get into bed side cubbies.

I’ve got a simple setup in the back of my truck. I 3D-printed a bracket to hook into the Ford cleat cargo system, basically acting like a cheaper version of the Ford bed divider. I made it with a 2x3 and some sheet wood. For storage, I’m using an old milk crate and a Rubbermaid 8-Gallon Action Packer bin.

do you have the CAD files to print the cleat?
