Surely this post will get me some hate and ugly comments, but that's ok!

I ordered 4 mavericks last September, in a attempt to just get 1 for myself. So far that strategy has paid off...

I ordered a XLT with lux package and a Lariat, both hybrids. I ordered the two different trim levels because the lariat has everything I think I wanted and the XLT had enough stuff that I felt I could be satisfied. Ordered both trims just in the event that perhaps due to constraints only one or the other would be selected. Then to again double my chances of a build, I did a duplicate order of a Lariat and XLT at another dealer.

Got nothing but the normal we're sorry your not scheduled emails from Ford until a few weeks ago when finally one of the XLT's I ordered got selected and I got a build date. Should be built at the end of August.

My plan was to buy whatever was built first and if I was happy with it, keep it. And if any of the other 3 were selected to be built I could either buy them and sell them for a small profit or let the dealer have them to sell to whoever or just simply cancel the orders. But truthfully if there was some money to be made by buying them and reselling them I would have done that for sure.

I got extra lucky and actually found a new XLT hybrid at the same dealer about a month ago ( a week before I got a email saying one of my 4 was going into production... talk about timing! ) and they were kind enough to sell to me at MSRP so I have been driving it for the last month and it has shown me that I can be happy with an XLT and don't need to pursue a Lariat.

So my current plan is to keep driving the XLT I currently have till the one I ordered comes in. I like the one I have now but the one I ordered has a few more options I really want, such as the heated seats, and is in the preferred color I wanted ( cactus grey as opposed to the Atlas Blue on the one I have now ). When my ordered truck comes in, I plan to resell the one I have now to whoever will give me the most for it, then keep the cactus gray one as my keeper.

So now that you know the backstory... I am pondering what do I do with the 3 unbuilt 2023 orders? Obviously I could just not renew them as 2024 orders, and that is probably what I should do... just to help increase chances of someone else getting their order. But with the Private cash offer keeping the 2024 models the same price point as 2023's coupled with the price increase on 2024's... Seems like if I did continue with my orders and they get built as 2024's I could stand to buy them and flip them for a healthy profit.

I know a lot of people HATE flippers. But money is money, and hard to turn down easy money. What do you folks think?

I also ordered a couple Mavericks. Neither have been scheduled since I ordered them back in September. Although the maverick is my dream budget car, my plan has always been to resell them because I just can't afford them, and it's money in my pocket that I could use for something more important than a new car. If I were you, I'd keep those orders and flip them for profit. That's what I'll be doing. You have no obligation to decrease demand just so other people can get theirs a little cheaper/sooner. They can either buy at markup or wait a year or two like the rest of us.

Selfish when others are waiting, following the process. In many states by the time you pay sales tax and title it you don't really make that much. Plus some states have limits on how many vehicles you can buy/sell in a year without a dealer license. The Motor Vehicle director for our county a few years ago found that out when he was sent to jail.

I sincerely could care less. The day I have to go on an internet forum, and ask advice from people I don't know, is the day I will evaluate my life. Cause I've pretty much reached rock bottom on that day.

I think a lot of this depends on which state you’re in. In CA, this would not be profitable since you’d be paying tax and reg on those 3, so even if you found someone to pay $5k over, you’d probably break even at best.

“Flipping” these kind of works when you drive one for a year, sell it to get your next mav because you don’t really profit, but you basically drove one for free for a year. And tax credits with your trade-in. Neither of these apply if you’re just buying them to resell.

Maybe if you live in a state with no sales tax, you could make a few thousand. I “flipped” a C8, and got $10k over, but even then the profit was slim (and the risk was high). You don’t realize all the fees involved sometimes.

Also, im not sure how much longer the gravy train will be flowing, either. I just got a lariat tremor this morning off the lot. They wanted a markup, but i said no thanks and they caved in one day

I think I'd wait a few months to see what shakes out. Given the significant price increases for the 24 Maverick, and given there are no significant changes, and considering there are nearly a half dozen manufacturers coming to market with competing compact trucks in 2024, I would suspect demand for the new Maverick won't be as high as it was previously.

I live in south Carolina just across the stateline below Charlotte NC. Here where I am the sales tax caps out at $500. And if I want I could get the title clerks to just issue a title with no registration so that would only run me like $30. So I would have the MSRP, minus the price protection rebate, plus $800 DOC fee and about $530-560 in tax and title fee.

IDK, there seems to still be a ton of demand for hybrids and with me buying a 2024 at 2023 pricing, I would be several grand lower invested into one than normal MSRP on a 2024. I feel fairly good that I could sell them for at least $2500-3500 over what I have into them and still be cheaper and what dealers will ask for available trucks. I think..... Figured I would pick some brains here to see if I am delusional.

You do you, man. Ignore the people who take it personal. They are not in control of your finances and they can only post opinionated rabble. My take on it is you gotta do what you gotta do to get ahead of everyone else in life. You won't see me holding a grudge because you play the system.

Didn't mean to double post but o'well...

No. Wait until 2028...

Sincerely,
Everyone else trying to place an order in '24

:ROFLMAO:

Could? Or couldn't...
The Maverick won't be made in 2028. I see Youtube videos everyday saying the Maverick is doomed because XXXXX has a new compact truck for $20,000. I'm trying to decide which one I'm going to buy next month.
