Unless I missed something here, was there a hope of getting something taken off the msrp. Anyone who can find one on a lot without an ADM will find a bargain. I see them all the time here in Dallas area with anywhere from $4K to $10K markup.

Just my opinion but each year the price goes up and Ford takes more standard equipment away and makes you pay for it . I had a 22 and a 23 Hybrid XLT SAME exact equipment but my 22 had more standard equipment then my 23. I sold my 23 and kept my 22, it's the same with the 23 to a 24 it your money but compared the two and you will see what I'm talking about . 🤔😱

Ford is a business, and they took a beating the last couple of years due to government pressure to build EV's, supply chain problems, and finally the mofo UAW strike almost put the final nail in their coffin. While prices have increased, I don't think they're unfair, and I would buy another if I were in the market.

This will be my first Maverick (formerly had a Sport Trac) and I test drove a 2023 XLT today. The dealer has the exact color I want. They will not budge off the MSRP of $34,170.00. I'm not necessarily in a big rush but wonder if I should just hold on for a 2024? Originally, I wanted an XL (not a bells & whistles type of person) so the one I drove today has a lot of optional equipment already on the vehicle that I don't care that much about. Any idea of just how much more a 2024 will run or best to take what is on the lot?
Buy it!!!! Before it is gone.

The 2024 won't have the doorpad, and may not be available with options like sliding rear window. The dealer won't sell any Maverick at MSRP or less. See what else in on the 2023, it may be a better deal in the long run.

Ford is a business.

That's the only part you got right.

Gross profit from Q3 FY23 (quarter ending 9/30/23) was $6.253B........a 24.12% INCREASE YoY.

Gross profit for the 12 month period ending 9/30/23 was $26.724B......a 17.41% INCRESE YoY.

Ford reportedly lost an estimated $36,000 on each EV sold. Ford took a $8 Billion dollar loan from the government to continue with its dream of producing its own batteries. They still owe $6 Billion from 2008 and the great recession. The only reason Ford posted a profit was because the bean counters cooked the books. And the UAW sucks.

Literally this entire comment is false. They didn't lose $36k on a single sold vehicle. Ford investing 1.2 billion in future EV development is irrelevant in the context of current quarter EV sales. They did take a loan from the government to support building out 3 new battery plants, but it wasn't 8 billion. Ford didn't take out a loan like the other auto makers did during the great recession, so it's impossible for them to owe $6 billion on one. No comment necessary on them cooking the books or the UAW sucking.

On topic: OP, I was in a similar spot a while back. I took the opportunity to buy a 2023 XLT that became available. It's not the trim nor color I wanted, but otherwise I really enjoy it. I never canceled my order for a 2024 Maverick because I wasn't sure how this Maverick would work out but ultimately I felt comfortable with this model and may decide to keep it even after the 24 comes in. I like having options.

How is an xlt that much? My 23 xl was $10k less at MSRP. Is going up one trim level that big of a price jump? I didn't think it was.....

Edit: must be AWD??? In any event if that is truely MSRP I'd consider it. How much is the vehicle you wanted going up in price from 23 to 24? I'd mentally subtract that off the 23 price to assess

THANKS to all who responded. I read each and every comment on my post and reached a decision. My new 2023 XLT Maverick is in my driveway! The dealer came a little off MSRP and gave me a good trade-in value on my Subaru. Considering it was on the lot with $7K in options, I feel I got a pretty good deal. I absolutely love driving it. It is AWD and w/the Ecoboost engine. I may regret not going with a Hybrid as the MPG is not wonderful but I know that also depends on how I drive. Only thing missing is a truck bed cover! I had a hard tri-fold on my Sport Trac but needed 2 people to get it off. I need something lighter. Any recommendations on a good one that won't break the bank? Happy 1st time Maverick owner!!
