This will be my first Maverick (formerly had a Sport Trac) and I test drove a 2023 XLT today. The dealer has the exact color I want. They will not budge off the MSRP of $34,170.00. I'm not necessarily in a big rush but wonder if I should just hold on for a 2024? Originally, I wanted an XL (not a bells & whistles type of person) so the one I drove today has a lot of optional equipment already on the vehicle that I don't care that much about. Any idea of just how much more a 2024 will run or best to take what is on the lot?

I believe the 2024 is $1500 more and the Hybrid is $3000 more. Go to Ford.com and build your XL and see what the MSRP comes out to, you could take that number and low ball the dealer and see what happens or order your 2024 and keep looking on lots.

If you’re not in a rush and you don’t care about the bells and whistles I’d say wait and save yourself some money.
Unfortunately, I’m a bells and whistles guy. My wallet wishes that I were not.

Just my opinion but each year the price goes up and Ford takes more standard equipment away and makes you pay for it . I had a 22 and a 23 Hybrid XLT SAME exact equipment but my 22 had more standard equipment then my 23. I sold my 23 and kept my 22, it's the same with the 23 to a 24 it your money but compared the two and you will see what I'm talking about . 🤔😱

I might end up being bells and whistles. LOL I know re-sale will be better than a stripped down version. Probably the only item on the package I can't see paying $995 for is a moonroof but I know a lot of people like them. But the tow package I'd like and this one comes with it.

I started looking at some comparisons and you're right. And the prices are only going up so...

TreeHgr, I had planned to first-day order a 2024 XLT with just 4k tow and BAP, but 2 days prior I Google searched and found both an XLT with BAP and a few other options (may have had 4k also…?), as well as a Lariat Tremor with that version’s Appearance pkg, both in Oxford White - one of my two possible color choices, at a dealership 75 miles away.

I drove down the very next day planning to likely buy the XLT since I didn’t really want the off-road suspension, but as soon as my wife and I saw the subtle color enhancements of the Tremor, I instantly decided on that and drove it home.

I could’ve placed an order the very next day (July 17, 2023) but just didn’t feel like playing the waiting game like so many others have, so I paid the markup and have enjoyed my 2023 Maverick ever since.

Ultimately you’ll have to weigh the pros & cons, but just thought I’d throw this out there. Good luck👍!

If it was me and really I faced the same exact dilemma you are facing I would buy the '23 because that's what I did. :) The '24 will cost you more (same options) than the '23 and you will get less stuff like the integrated keypad. The one thing I wanted (really more my wife) was the sunroof which is on the '24 order and the '23 doesn't have it, the opposite of you, but I can live without it.

I bought an XL off the lot (4ktow and c360) for almost 5k less than my xlt on order. I do love it very much, but also sometimes with i waited for my order to have the things i really wanted. But the xl gave me what i needed, for now, with a smaller price tag. I guess I am saying that I offer no insight at all because if i could go back in time I dont know which I'd choose. LOL

A 2024 XL base model will start right around $25K with destination charges. That is your basic FWD. The comparable 2023 will have some additions the ‘24 will not, like the external keypad which you can add on later for around $200. One reason to consider a 2024 is it may have some improvements over the ‘23. Judging from the forum, it seems there have been less issues with the ‘23 than the ‘22. The same may apply to the ‘24. A couple owners who have received their ‘24 said they feel the fit, finish and build seems improved over the ‘23. And one owner said they thought the quality of the body metal seemed better. Dash rattle and battery issues were common in the ‘22 model but seemed to improve in ‘23 and maybe they will again in ‘24. No guarantees and a lot of anecdotal responses. Just something to think about. I’m like you as far as frills. I decided to wait for a 2024 XL for those reasons as well as the fact that I could select the options I wanted and not pay for ones I didn’t. But once you see the bells and whistles it can be hard to go back. Good luck, I bet you will be happy either way.

Get it now. Even at MSRP it's a good value and you will grow to like the bells and whistles. They will also make it more valuable if you decide to sell it later.

The dealer will probably add additional markup on the 2024's. He wants to get rid of current inventory. So potentially, in addition to the price increase you will be faced with the ADM. How much, if any, depends on the market, interest rates and how long, cold and dark winter is where you live.

The 22s had the most standard options (except for the XL) and every year since they have taken options away and increased the price. Kind of opposite of what you think would happen. You figure you would have more options as the years go on... If you can hold off the Maverick will probably be refreshed for the 25 model year with orders starting in July.
