I took the new Maverick on it's first cruise the past couple days. Just a short jaunt for an overnight at a local casino. All went well, and the gas mileage for the mostly highway drive was about what I expected. At first when I got going I thought I noticed more engine noise than I thought I would. Either I was imagining things or it just went away. No problem. The trip to the casino was in great winter driving weather. No problems at all. The cruise control held the speed well and I spent my time familiarizing myself with some of the options on the instrument display, and fiddling with the audio system. I downloaded some of my fav tunes to a thumb drive and played them through the system. This works great, and you don't need to have a subscription to a music service to play what you like.

Coming home, it was windy, with blowing snow across the highway. Much colder outside, but warm inside. The climate control works great. Less than ideal road conditions did not affect handling much at all. Just had the anti-lock engage for a second when coming to a stop on some icy snow. I felt very secure in the ride. The start/stop feature disabled itself since I had the heat on. On the trip up, I had disabled it myself. Everything worked as it should.

Probably the best vehicle I have ever owned. The AWD is well worth it if you live in a snowy climate. So far, so good.

Glad you're enjoying your AWD Eco... I'm loving my FWD Hybrid as well.

Glad you enjoy your Maverick. But it's not just you hearing things, my AWD EB Mav is louder when you first get going to. I just chalk it up to being cold. Once it gets warm the loudness goes away and I just cruise on. 4400 miles on mine now, and love every mile I have put on it.

I agree with your review. These little trucks are very comfortable and drive well.

I'm going to insist on a mine shakedown cruise when I pick my xlt hybrid up from the dealership. I'm going to make a list of things to look for.
