A tri-fold soft tonneau cover will have no problems going thru a big brush car wash.
I picked one of the least expensive models on ebay. It fits like a glove, looks great and does everything I want it to do. I have also had a similar one on my 3/4 ton Dodge for 8 years and have had zero problems with it.
Go ahead and spend a butt-ton more money on a hard cover if you want to but think of how many miles worth of gas you could be putting in your truck if you buy the soft cover instead.
That's exactly what I was thinking about the gas. It's good to hear real experience with the soft top and car washes.

just my opinion but don;t even consider a Worksport AL3 cover. I bought one because it was USA made and price reflected that. After several weeks of calls, emails, and parts being sent to supposedly fix it they admitted they never tested it on a Maverick. It was too small to sit well on top of the rails to seal. So while it had a multi-ribbed seal design only 1 rib ever made contact with the bed. Cost me return shipping, which is not cheap, to return it.
Here on the forum, is where you should have read all the comments on bed covers. Members gave there advice on which ones worked, cost, and prefered covers. P.S. (I think most of them leak somewhat) but there's many to choose from.

I did read on the FORUM and 1 person posted on the Worksport AL4. What I found out about the comments on here concerning covers is for every cover made at every price someone claims it is 100% leak free and the best ever made. So that is why I posted my opinion and only my opinion of the Worksport AL3. An aluminum cover that is so light, which made it easy to remove, to compress the seals might as well have no seals. The Worksport also leaked along the hinges running across the bed. That is the "new improved" parts that took 2 weeks to get was supposed to fix. They were trying to run out the 30 days for a return. So I started asking real people at Lowe's, the dealer, etc. what cover they had and for how long. I ended up buying a Rough Country tri-fold flip up. And after calling customer service and installing it the way the guy in Tennessee said not the way the instructions said it is 98% leak free. I think that is as good as I can expect.
Hey so I'm kind of leaning toward the Rough Country. A couple questions if you don't mind. Did you get the one that folds all the way up to the cab? If so does it lean against the cab like some, or does it sit straight up and vertical? Who is the guy in Tennessee? And finally did you have to use weather stripping to seal the tail gate to get the 98% leak free status?

Vertical. It has 2 prop rods that can be adjusted to angle it if you want. I'm leaning towards that to not block the third brake light. Yes I did use a tailgate strip. Here's some pictures. I used butyl rubber tape to seal the cad weld seams and the side trim valleys but plan on removing it and using silicone sealant.

Awesome, thank you for the pictures that is very helpful. It really does block the third brake light. I think as often as I would need to do that though I can live with it. What sealant is that in the last picture next to the foam piece by the cab.
