With the spy photos of the next gen Maverick, it looks like Ford is getting rid of the beloved (and highly controversial dash cubby) in favor of a larger infotainment screen. I say we ban together and start a write in campaign to stop Ford from removing this awesome unique Maverick feature before it is too late.

I'm no help to you Eric, as I never use the infotainment screen. That said, I think Ford did a piss-poor job designing the cubby. What the heck is that separator for, other than to take up valuable space in the cubby? Maybe I am missing something.

Smaller screen and a cubby large enough for an 8 track player!

As somebody who wants a two-door BEV Maverick, I'm happy to welcome the OP to the minority.

I for one think the screen size is great. Other than putting little knick knacks in the cubby there is not much use for it.
I think a bigger screen would only create more distractions and there is plenty of that going on, on our roads today!

...is getting rid of the beloved
Clearly not beloved, Lol. A cubby has it's place for sure but this one has always struck me to have been an afterthought. As in,

Mgr: "The bean counters say we can't use the 10" tft in this gen of the maverick. We have to use that feeble 8" so we're going to have to reconfigure the top part of the dash.

Design engineer: "No way. Lets just make an opening to the right so we can add the 10" in a few years when they come to their senses."

I guess beloved is a matter of perspective. There is a thread dedicated to what do you have in your cubby, and because there is a cubby, it has created an industry of products to fill the space from phone holders and usb jacks to Mascots and ejection buttons. I believe that it is one of the quarks that makes the Maverick great.

Fair enough. It’s definitely inspired many creative people and I appreciate them. 👍🏼
