Running Boards XLT Hybrid

Has anyone found running boards that actually fit the XLT Hybrid, seen some advertised but when looking at the installation instructions you know there is no way they will work. Wife is handicapped and needs the extra step to get in.


Bought a set from Realtruck, work well, driver side easy install, passenger side not so. The two 8mm nut plates that are needed for middle brace is hard to get in. They need some way of holding them in place. Lost one in the body, they did send a replacement nut. Instructions were a little light but went on line to see how it was installed, helped lot.

I ordered running boards from RealTruck and had problems with the S bolt, so it's going back. Thank you so much for your comments and photos. I'll try the one from Amazon. Thanks for the link.

They give different bolts for Hybrid and Non Hybrid and there is one or 2 you have to persuade in a bit but they do fit

Thanks for getting back to me. I understand that the front S bolt is a bit challenging. I hope my car guy has better luck with the new running boards.

I ordered the TAC Side Steps Running Boards from Amazon and my mechanic was able to install them, however it took 5 hours. Thanks again for sharing your information with us. My dog and I are much happier now.

Why does the listing say "exclude hybrid models"?

Probably the same reason this listing says it doesn't fit Maverick.
Amazon is wrong!

I emailed TACUSA about the sidebars for a 26 Maverick Hybrid Lariat and they said that the model 21620 would fit. I still sent them pictures of the vehicle and they still said it would fit. When I ordered the sidebars, the directions show 2 model numbers on the instructions: 216020 and 216027. There are only 2 mounting plates (leveling brackets) in the kit I guess one for each side. Still trying to decipher the directions, but it does look like the support brackets will still hold the molding in place and the very front clip does stay in place. I watched one of the videos for installation--it was for a RAV 4 but it was similar in that the plastic did not need to be removed but could be cut with a utility knife or maybe a multitool. I am hoping to install them this week when the weather is supposed ot get a little milder, from the 100s to the mid 70s.
