It would be like putting running boards on a minivan, don't do it.

There is a reason there aren't any available. The mav is the size of a mid-size SUV with a bed. There is no stepping up, just stepping in!

It would frankly be ridiculously awkward - if there were running boards you'd step on them and be almost waist-high on the roofline, at which point it would be like getting into a sports car that sits 2 inches off the ground.

Amazon has them from a company called iBoardauto.com. They have them in four, five and six inch wide versions. I installed the six inch version. The are too wide for the Maverick and get in the way of entering and exiting the vehicles. I posted a a message on my experience installing them. I think it is posted under Exterior Modifications. Just search for Running Boards. It should pop up.
