What is the felt for?? Don't understand what it does? Mine is falling off due to heat, but I just reapply back in place.
I read that the felt is to protect hands when rolling the cover ... the metal part gets very hot in the sun.

I guess the felt accomplishes that with no issues ... the problem is getting the felt to stay attached to the metal cover. The glue basically melts in the heat and the felt falls off.

They gave me a new Tonneau cover last week after the felt came off. No Ford logo, but it has plastic instead of the felt. It is pouring rain out now, and I have not looked to see if the cover is leaking. My last cover did leak. I think I will just wait until the rain stops to see if I’m pleasantly surprised. 😎
While the Ford logo looks nice, I would prioritize functionality over the logo.

Hopefully, I can get my dealer to resolve the issue as well ... the problem is the dealership is two hours away <sigh>.

I just filed a complaint with no luck getting it replaced. I need the parts number for that tonneau cover. I don't care about the Ford logo.

[Update…just ‘cuz…]

All quiet on the Fox Ford Service Department* front, 9+ days later and running. Didn’t believe the original “we’ll contact you in 2 to 3 days” statement.

*Yes, this time I named names, thinking that perhaps a Blue Oval bot may be screening streaming electrons…

I just called ford cust svc today after speaking to my dealership last week AND waiting for a response. The ford svc rep gave me a claim # and will ONLY replace the felt. He claims it is a stronger glue. If by chance it will come off again (which is most likely in California summers), then they will replace the entire cover. That felt made a mess in my bed and got my stuff all sticky. As much as I like the ford logo- I want things to work as they shd.

Add this to the class action lawsuit! They haven't even responded about the felt replacement on mine. It has been about 4 months!

After reading this thread I am more confused than ever over which tonneau to purchase.
I was about to pull the trigger for the Bak X2 but living in central FL the heat would melt the glue for sure.
All I know for a grand plus I expect no issues.
Back to the research!
Thank you all for your postings, I am very appreciative!

Same happening in IL, but only on the starboard side (weird). Attempted to reattach 2x’s, fruitless.

Reattached 3 days ago after a refresh with contact cement, haven’t checked if it worked…but will now that my memory has been jogged!

Not miserable, but I now know I have company. Lovely.
Gee I don't have one so I'll never know what Less Felt Feels Like and a few know how Refelt Feels.

I have this cover as well. My Ford Logo doesn’t line up for some reason, the third or fourth line down is off center to the right so 3/4 is in alignment and the last 1/3 is trying to run away?!? My felt is also peeling off. I’m considering re- gluing it but honestly this is really disappointing for a cover that costs so much money.
Aaarrrggghhh!!! Yet another test for the member whose head hurts with fractions. "What portion of the 3/4 in alignment belongs to the 1/3 that is trying to run away?".

i would not recommend the roll up/felt unit if you live in a hotter climate. Florida and Arizona destroyed two of mine....second one was a warranty replacement that lasted about the same length of time. Went with a Bak flip on my f150a nd will do that on my 2023 hybrid Maverick shortly. Cheers everyone...safe travels.

That’s funny. I was able to fix it when I took the whole cover off. There are some tiny indentations that position the ford logo. Somehow along the way the ford logo piece came loose and slid to the right. You can see what I was attempting to refer to in this picture. Sorry for the inaccurate description in my previous post.

That is the plastic drop in bed liner.
