My late wife and I brought fixer uppers for 12 years and invested time/funds. Selling each one brought a reasonable profit or a break even point (not counting not paying rent). This process established a college fund and a valuable lesson for our child.

I live in Delaware and these trucks are nowhere to be found on any lots. The one dealer near me took a 2023 XLT Hybrid back in as the customer didn’t like it. It sold for almost $12K over MSRP. Lasted less than a day on the lot.

I think it's amusing. The Scalpers just clutter the bandwidth hoping for a profit. Ford people don't do that. I'm a Maverick guy through snd through. I'm a Ford guy through and through. Risk and reward. At some point someone will speculate and the market will flip and they will have over paid, be underwater, and that will follow them to the next vehicle or prohibit them from moving to the next one. But they should not really worry, bailouts are happening more and more.

Did the state attorney general's office compensate him for his expenses and effort bringing those generators to market when they were so badly needed? Of course not!
It's magical thinking, that generators will somehow appear right when and where they are needed most at normal market prices.

They would rather you shiver in the dark than prove you wrong.

The neighbor broke the law plain & simple and paid the price.

Having gone through Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in Aug 2005, I have no love for scalpers and gougers selling water for $50.00 a case, or gas for $10.00 a gallon or a seedy Motel 6 room for $500.00 an night, all because of supply and demand. Scalping is taking advantage but karma got em. Beware karma

Don't conflate being an asshole with good business sense.

There was a big snowstorm year about 20 years ago. Some enterprising young men rented a box truck, drove south until they were out of the storm, loaded up the truck with bags of snow melt they bought, drove back through the snowstorm and sold salt from the back of their truck for $40 a bag. People were pissed off at the price but they were also glad to get it because they needed it. They told anyone who complained where they rented the truck, where they bought the salt and invited them to do the same. For some reason, nobody did.

Without the profit motive those enterprising young men would never have bothered driving all night through a snowstorm to go get salt. With it, they provided a necessary product to people who needed it. Everyone was better off.

Free enterprise capitalism is the greatest wealth producing engine in human history and it's sad when people are so deluded by socialist nonsense that they can't see the truth.

And that’s why there are Antitrust laws

I have one, allegedly, in production right now. It's a base model hybrid with almost zero options. When I ordered it I was just thinking cheap transportation and good gas mileage. Now I'm mad I didn't order 2. I'd have no problem 100% financing this one and selling it for more than I paid if the right offer came around. It's just a car.

Yeah, probably a good thing to edit. Maybe next time call it free market and drop the "predatory" adjective. Our system is not perfect, but no one has come close to a better system in practice. Just remember, "some pigs are more equal than others". (don't know the quote: read "Animal Farm")
