Reroute or add on -- change mode button

Ok this goes out to all the electricians and connection gurus in the forum.
I hate the fact that I have to look down to reach for the mode button on the center console. I always hit the wrong one when trying to go to Sport or back to Normal.
My idea would be to splice inline the wires from that module to a basic momentary switch and mount that somewhere on the dash maybe close to the volume button Or anywhere within a better reach/view.
I’d like to tap into the grey/violet wire from the harness plugging into the module to my new switch then to ground.
How does that sound to anyone in the know?

On the other hand, you could do what I did. Make the button easier to find.
I glued a button on. Made of wood, it took the glue easily, and the color matches the Lariat interior.

Interesting idea. Might want to go with wireless, then the momentary switch can be moved around. Also eliminates routing wires. Example controller:

I did something similar. But after a while, muscle memory eventually learns where the mode switch is, anyway. FWIW, in newer models, they did move the switch.

I also did something similar. I glued on a silicon cabinet door bumper with super glue. Never have to look down to find the button.

I think someone here put like some paint dots ala braille style. Might do that. But waiting for it to get warmer to try and mess with the wiring for the add on button.
