Well, this is exactly what I hoped to avoid. As it appears my Maverick order is about to be pushed to MY23, I have little choice but to spend roughly $1,300 to get my 2006 Escalade some new brakes, a couple ball joints and few other odds and ends that will get it inspected through October of 2023.

Really hoped Ford would come through and maybe get me a truck within 10 months of my January order. But, since that is CLEARLY NOT HAPPENING, I think this is the best bet under the circumstances. I mean, there's no way I'd be able to buy another beater for $1,300, and if I can get a whole extra year out of this vehicle for the cost, I guess it's not really that much money.

Still, I really hate to put the money there rather than toward a down payment on the Maverick. I guess I can at least get some of it back if/when the Maverick shows up. After all, this vehicle won't be worth much, but it won't be worth zero...

I feel your pain. Our 20 year old truck is on it's last leg. I sure didn't expect to be driving it another year. I don't want to spend another dime on it.

Yup. I hope your Maverick shows up before you face the same dilemma.
