Remove Tailgate?

On my f150 it was really easy to remove the tailgate and would frequently do it when emptying loads of mulch. Does the tailgate not come off the maverick?

It does. Need to disconnect the harness for the backup camera and there is a securing bracket on the passenger side that must be removed.

Mine has a lock on it now. Dealership installed. He said it is real easy for someone to steal your tailgate in case they destroy or damage their own.

I paid the $40 for the dealer add on tail gate lock. It will slow down the theft of tail gate some but it uses a 1/4" socket with random pattern "key" socket like the wheel lugs have. It's basically a plastic enclosed hose clamp.

Can we use the stainless clamp that is used in plumbing? It can slow down the theft process. I have used it on the Tacoma in the past.

That's pretty much all the tailgate lock is except with a unique keyed screw head.

I remember I filled the area with epoxy so any screw driver/tool would be difficult to release.
