Hello MTC members.looking for information on the key fob.I’ve noticed that when I want to make the horn honk with the fob I have to be within about 15 feet of the vehicle .is there a way to extend the distance? Any help/info would be appreciated tks VP.

The single or double lock honk on mine works at least 200 feet away. I have never tried the panic alarm button more than a few feet away.

I've got one of those short range Mavericks too, seems to cap its distance at an arbitrary 20-50ft depending on how it feels on a given day. I tried an antenna extender add on to my VSS+ alarm however that appears to only work for the dedicated long range remote start fob, not the factory keyfobs you get with the Mavericks.

I've found no solution so far, just adapted to close range keyfob and long range app, which sucks btw even after the update.

The old remedy which did work was too touch your remote to your chin. Evidently your body then acts as an antenna.

My XL fob works from at least 200 ft away, Line Of Sight. I was surprised at the distance.
My aftermarket Start-X remote start also works from that distance.

the tap your head trick works but I'm fairly confident there's a QA issue with factory antenna causing keyfobs to be extreme short range compared to others who have said it works through brick walls and titanium submarine plating. learned to live with it.

Yes, old app showed a horn/lights button - pretty sure that sets off the full alarm though, not just lockhornnoise. New app removed the option, you get lock, unlock, and slide to start

Getting older sucks sometimes I don’t remember if I locked 🔒 it so then it’s a hike back within 15ish feet cuz I park all the way in the back lol at least I get some of my steps in 😂

same here and I'm "still young" the app definitely helps make the "please just ****in' LOCK DAMNIT" a little easier as you can do it from anywhere you have connection. But it's a slow, cumbersome app - those poor Ford developers..

On the way back to the truck I keep hitting the button but as you say LOCK DAMMIT but to no avail I have to be in the 15ish feet away to work.maybe one day those poor Ford employees will fix this.it’s funny I worked in Dearborn with engineers fixing carburetor issues and we made sure they were fixed!!!

Yeah I got my extended service plan, wondering if I can make a claim on this issue but keep pushing it back, along with my window triggers' "metal" coating peeling off and some other little QA BS that annoys me but not enough
