I've been accumulating info from multiple posts/threads in regards to this. My local dealer is puny, so if this ever happens to me, the odds of my dealer having already seen another instance of this are slim to none. So I wanted to have some documentation that could offer guidance.

From what I've seen, I'm a little puzzled. Problem seems to be the same across the board, but I've seen 2 separate solutions. 1 is the more popular "faulty solder" which seems to be resolved with crimping and product BP326, a cheap battery cable lug. However, in Tim Bartz's recent livestream, he addresses the dead hybrids and mentions that the solution seems to be replacement of an entire harness with OEM part LX6Z10C679B.

Thoughts on this? Is the crimp/lug a bandaid that just prolongs replacement of the harness? I'm no service tech, electrician, etc. Just lots of reading. See photos for better understanding.

On Tim's parts diagram, "LX6Z10C679B" highlighted in blue is not the correct part to match harness #4 in the diagram. LX6Z10C679B is for a Ford Escape: "BATTERY. SENSOR. MANAGEMENT Cable".

LX6Z14290PA is the part noted in the diagram in the above post as #4, if indeed it is the cable in question on the hybrids. List price is over $700 for this cable.

Also, the terminal in the post above circled in blue seems to match the cable shown below, which is not the LX6Z14290PA $700 cable...

Yeah, you could say it does. Although I don't have much of a theory... I've just tried piecing together everyone's story/timeline.

Ford should recall every hybrid and replace the harness.. imagine if your maverick die just like that .in the tunnel, in a curve, speedway/express way/highway…. i just checked my vin and no recall not tech note whatsoever,

Thanks for the correction. The diagram I used was given to me by a viewer that had their Maverick fixed by a dealer. They must have used an Escape part instead of a Maverick part. Probably because they could find an Escape part and didn't want to wait on the Maverick cable.

You mean it is fixable? I thought the hybrids would be dead forever and be deemed the most unreliable vehicle ever! 😄 (sarcasm, of course, because of some of the posts on this forum)

It looks like there is an issue with the welds on the battery cable at the Battery Junction Box. It is hidden under the shrink tubing, so if you are having issues, I would start there.

These are pictures of the cable that bolt down to the BJB from the Battery inside the cab. The cable is located between the box and the trans.

Thank you. And the solder from the cable to the adapter is faulty, correct? This is not something I should go looking for, though, right?

No, but if you are having issues, I would tell the Service Advisor/Tech about the known issue so they don't waste time searching elsewhere for the issue.

No issues at this point. Love my truck. I did get a jump start battery to throw in the glove box, though. I hope I never need to use it, but better to have and not need than need and not have.

They should not be using aluminum welding type cable. Obvious effort to save money over using copper the preferred electrical conductor. As if that is not bad enough, they are soldering the cable to the connector as well as attempting to crimp as well? What the hell is that all about? Did they think they were not getting good crimps? Not using the right crimping die for the application? Ford better find a new supplier or change the specifications and procedures for such an important cable. Totally obvious these people are clueless. A first year electrical apprentice would know better. Finally, as the icing on the cake, they charge over $500 bucks for this piece of crap.

Everybody makes mistakes, but this is bush league dereliction of duty and there is no excuse for such pitiful workmanship.
