As with any of our vehicles any more, Ziebart undercoat. For our Mav, a ceramic coating also. Take them in yearly also for the required maintenance to keep up the warranty.
I took my Maverick to New Hampshire Oil Undercoating. They use a wax oil mixture for the under carriage. It is a coating that does not get hard but is not messy to touch. They spray a clear thick coating in the inner cavities and under the hood. I only have to take it back every 2 years to keep the warranty intact.

After waiting 13 months for my 23 Maverick Hybrid Lariat, I refused acceptance. The reasons: 1) After reading the article regarding what Ford did to produce it at that price was primary. By not E-coating body parts, it will rust in Northern Ohio. Other components were dropped or cheapened including the muffler. 2) Even though I wouldn't be financing very much, FordCredit wanted more than the banks. 3) On arrival, they told me that the radio did not work, which required replacing the entire touch screen.

I did drive it (without the touchscreen), and I have to admit, I liked the way it handled.

Instead, the dealership had a plug-in hybrid Escape Platinum....101 mpg in the city....

Enjoy your Mavericks everyone, I love seeing them on the road, but I guess I want more than what they offer.

Black out on Atlas Blue seems like an unnecessary add on. I don't like it. Gimme the blue mirrors back.

My 14 year old ram has held up very well in Michigan with nothing done as far as aftermarket rust proofing .I'm hoping to get another 10 years from it.nothing was done to my 23 mav either, will see if it holds up as good as the dodge!
Your lucky that your truck is not rusted out. Especially the rockers or bed arches. I have seen plenty of Rams that are all rotted here in Pa. I got my Mav rustproofed and undercoated. I don't want to see rust through right after the corrosion warranty ends. Western Pa. uses calcium chloride liquid on the roads. That stuff splashes and runs into every opening.

There is no Ziebart or any other undercoating franchises in Vermont. None. No SIBL franchises either. Very backward in many ways up here. So.....Detailing shops have taken up the slack and offer many different types. Most popular is Fluid Film Black (best overall in quality and price). CRC SP400 (Outstanding quality and very very expensive) and rounding out the top 3 New Hampshire Oil Undercoating (Excellent with rust inhibitors but messy). For me better suited for older vehicles not one that only has 500 miles on it like mine.
Bob here in Pa. we have New Hampshire Oil Undercoating product installers here. NHOU has a product for new vehicles called Wax Oil. It is not messy to touch. It does not get hard. You can push real hard and it will leave a finger print on the surface. If it gets a dent it will self heal and then tack back up. The interior panels and under the hood are sprayed with a thick clear coating. This stays soft and will creep upwards. It does creep up around the door bottoms and such. You know it works because dirt will cling to the outside lower parts of the body. Just have to wash it off.

They have to be somehow factoring in the first 35-40 miles strictly on battery into the equation. Once the garage charge is depleted and it becomes a standard hybrid one will see similar results as in the Maverick Hybrid.

Take a 90 mile trip. The first 45 miles are 100% battery. The last 45 miles standard hybrid getting 45 mpg. Bingo. 90 mikes traveled, 1 gallon of gas used, 90 mpg. Sort of. Really e90 mpg.

Please, someone correct me if I am wrong but I see no magic wand when it pertains to gas mileage with the Escape.
I believe you are correct. My hybrid Maverick is supposed to get up to 40 mpg. After driving 35 plus miles my screen said 38-39 mpg but when I shut my truck off it said I got 46.7 mpg. That's because 15.3 was electric driving. The rest was gas. That averages out to the 46.7 mpg rating. That's similar to the e90mpg you stated.

Yeah parking in garage may help. I just know you really don't know what is happening behind those hidden panels. My thought is better safe than sorry. Once hidden rust starts you will not know until it starts bubbling through.

Yeah, I figured that’s how they calculate the 101mpge. Not bad for daily driving rather than a full EV. Had a Mach E last yr and it’s a chore to keep up with the charging but really sux on out of town trips. At least this Phev is a quick charge up for the smaller battery.

The Maverick hybrid plugs in as well? If it does that’s something I wasn’t where of.

IMHO none of the reasons you listed for refusing the truck seem to be a deal breaker. Did you do any research prior to placing the order. 13 months is a long wait to just throw away an order. Someone else will enjoy it. I would debate the whole Ohio vs Vermont salt issue. I grew up in Ohio and we had salt on the roads for sometimes 9 months of the year.
Agreed. But Al least now there is another marked up Maverick that people will not want to buy. 😜

Poster was probably wanting a heavier duty truck at a cheap price. My wife and i were joking about being a fake truck. It's really just a utility vehicle, If the competitors come out with something beefier they'll be thousands more. The economy will only get worse. I paid $4.69 for a half gallon of egg nog this morning. Not the premium brand, was Krogers budget label. A box of name brand cereal (which i don't buy) 6 to 7 bucks. We're ok with a fake budget truck.
If there was a carnival kiddie ride called "Pickup Truck," The Maverick would be that truck. It looks like a truck, you see a big hood out of the windshield just like a real truck, the tailgate slams just like a real truck, but the interior is a "fun color" blue like a kiddie ride should be. And the hybrid whirs around like you'd expect a carnival ride to.

This. Get what makes you happy.

But the e-coating thing... eh... not too sure about that one. The Escape is essentially the same vehicle in those regards. The infotainment center not working would be a deal breaker upon acceptance, but I'm sure if they fixed it then no big deal. Then I'd sign paperwork - but not before it was fixed. No doubt the Escape is the "nicer" of the two but not by much, it's really splitting hairs as far as creature features interior wise. The rest is pretty much exactly the same. Mavericks are Escapes with a bed. But of course, they don't offer PHEV's. Maybe that is what you meant? Because I had an Escape Hybrid and it got nowhere near 101 mpg in the city. I was lucky to see 40 and some people report 50-60 during hyper miling. Even still, you had to have known that before going into this. The Maverick hybrids average 36-40 same as the Escapes do for most people. So I'm not sure where the 101 mpg is coming from. Especially once it gets cold... I think you'll be surprised to learn how often the ICE has to kick on just to maintain a temperature threshold and how much the battery suffers in the cold as well. But like I said, get what makes you happy at the end of the day.
Yes, this Escape is a PHEV. 90% of my driving is within 5 miles of home. Retired but drive school bus 1 mile from home. No need to go anywhere in nasty weather... schools cancel. And if I do need to use the gas engine, it is the same as the Maverick...about 40 mpg. Call me cheap, but even though I would have only been financing 8-10k, paying 6-7% interest is a huge turn off. I traded in a 2021 F-150 Lariat that had 0%. I considered just keeping the F-150 (really nice truck) but I only used the bed once in the 2 years that I had it. Thanks for your comments though.

Make sure you claim the $3750 Federal Tax Credit and check for any state/local/utility rebates and credits.

I had ordered a 2022 Escape PHEV in Jan of 2022. Never got built until this year as a 2023 - which means that it was no longer the deal I wanted. No base SE model anymore - all higher trims, and no $64xx (I forget exact amount now) tax credit after the updated laws.

I'm now awaiting my 2023 XL hybrid Mav with CP360 and hitch - $MSRP under $25k

I'll miss the plug in EV driving and adaptive cruise; however when my Escape PHEV order finally got built this fall - it came in at $42k! Not the low-mid $30k price that my '22 order should have been built at. $42k gets you into a Rav4 Prime with AWD and 300 hp.

Both are decent options, I just wanted a better value, hence my XL winning out.

You did what was right for you. Life goes on. I turned down a Lariat last month as well. I have a perfectly good XLT and for the amount of miles I drive it was not worth it to upgrade as prices seem to be leveling off, at least here in SE PA.

Good luck with your new vehicle, hopefully you will not be cursed with the Ford recall curse many of us experience.

Unfortunately, the IRS dropped Ford's PHEV's from the tax rebate because Ford's batteries aren't certified to be made in the U.S. That is a reason they want to build a battery factory here, but they don't want it unionized.
