Why did they die on the donuts? Did they completely ignore all the warnings on the spare and drive at full speed for extended periods of time?Mini spares should be outlawed! How many people have been killed because of donuts. I know of three right here in my area. What a joke!
A donut tire is better than no spare tire at all. And if donut tires are outlawed, manufacturers will just stop including them. You'll have to pay a few hundred dollars for a full size spare, if it's even an option. Donut tires aren't perfect, but if you use them the way they are intended, you should be safe. That being said, out in some parts of the western United States and in parts of Appalachia, you can find yourself stuck 100 miles from the nearest tire shop. If you traverse those areas, a full size spare is a necessity. I have bought them from junkyards in the past. $35 for wheel and tire. The wheel usually won't match and the tire will have some wear, but they'll sure take you a lot further and faster than a donut.Mini spares should be outlawed! Two were turning too fast, one of which was trying to get on the interstate and rolled. The third did go too fast and after passing it is believed the wind blew him off the road. Plus I once saw some idiot running a yellow light end up taking a parking meter out with the left turn failing. Why did they die on the donuts? Good points David. I think the mini spare I tossed from my Honda said 45 MPH Max! My opinion is a vehicle going 45 on the highway is a hazard.A donut tire is better than no spare tire at all. I prefer the donut because much easier to change. If used as instructed they do the job.Mini spares should be outlawed! How many people have been killed because of donuts. I know of three right here in my area. What a joke!
