I didn't see anything in the search for receiver hitch carriers. Has anyone used one of these hitch carrying devises. I have some cargo I would like to haul that is about 270 lbs. worth. I would be getting one with a drop downside to load the item.
Just wondering about truck driving ability and such if I get one. Any advice will be appreciated.

I used a steel one last fall. Of course being steel the carrier is heavier than the aluminum ones. I loaded a deer on it and drove @an hour to the butcher. The deer weighed 135lbs.

While driving I would have never known it was there. I have a 2023 XL Hybrid.

This is the only one I have experience with on the Maverick.

It works great if you need some watertight storage but is only rated for 150lbs so I'm guessing it wouldn't work for what you need and probably isn't tall enough either.

I have used a generic steel one.

Keep in mind it bounces / rattles some.
There is some slop/play in the components.

Depending how large you go with the kit and caboodle the "stuff" may block your tail lamps. Reflectors are good. Can't tell if the one you have shown is powered up with it's own lights.

Also probably will block license plate.

I'm still trying to determine the "tongue weight " rating for Maverick XLT Hybrid for towing; once you know that, then i guess you can calculate the carrying capacity of the carrier. I have a carrier but haven't used it yet.
Does anyone know the tongue weight rating?

Thank You all.
I have an XL AWD with 4K towing package. Besides all the other concerns like taillights, license plate, rear backup not working etc.. my concern would be if I can handle 265 lbs. of weight on one that it does not affect my steering or operation of the truck?

I think the numbers are 10% of weight can be on hitch. So, if 4000 lbs. towing capacity then 10% hitch weight I would be okay because that would figure out to 400 lbs. on hitch. I would be fine with 265 lbs. just on hitch.

The thing is I'm not sure if that is how it is figured for tongue/hitch weight though.

Any help to see if I would be okay to carry that weight for about 25 miles a couple time a year.

I assume it's the factory installed hitch mounted to the frame~~~if so, my guess is you should be ok, as long as the carrier itself doesn't add up to too much weight~~~~ nice aluminum carrier!
Mine is steel & heavy just by itself. You could take it for a test drive around your neighborhood to see if front wheels are affected by that weight not being centered in the bed of the truck

I've used a generic harbor frieght one, not sure how much was on it but I had a packed cooler and couple other things on it . I used one of those U bolt style anti rattle attachement.. it did fine on a 460 ish mile trip on vacation. Bed was full too. it did just fine. So in your case 275# for 25 miles once or twice per year, you should be fine worst case you might have to drive a little slower.
