Rear camera question when tailgate is down

I haven't hooked up to a trailer yet, but just thinking about the clearance from the tailgate to the receiver I would suspect that the tailgate fully down might not leave enough clearance for a trailer hitch. Now, put the tailgate in half-down position and it might help line up a hitch to the ball. That said, he dashed line in the backup indicators should help line up to the centerline. Not sure if you can see the ball with the tailgate fully up to know when to stop backing up...

Sounds like a good experiment for someone who regularly hooks up to a trailer to try. (Sadly, not me. Not only don't I have a trailer, but I haven't even bothered to get a ball yet...)

Correct...a good experiment...and I sold the NuCamp 320s trailer we had a while back, so I was thinking it puts another possibility of screwing up something while looking to hitch up.

With my gate down an option pops up on the dash to disable the chimes/sensor.

I will soon be carrying bikes in my bed with the tailgate down. I'd like someone to invent a way to mount a second backup camera that goes into action when the tailgate is down. The logical place to put a second backup camera is in the top section of the ford badge on the tailgate. Until someone clever does that, I will likely try the device at "tailgatemirror.com." Anyone tried one yet?

With Tailgate down it is a breeze to back up to a trailer hitch. I can usually center my trailer hitch to the trailer receiver down to within an inch.
