What is the OD of the piston for a 2023 Ford Maverick rear brake caliper? I need to replace my badly scored/rusted rear rotors and pads(yes I live in the NE). I have a proper brake caliper tool for a VW so I'm guessing I'll need to fabricate an adapter plate to fit the maverick piston slots. A picture showing the piston and retraction slots would be great. The front brakes are fine. I was able to get a set of rear rotors and pads from Detroit Axle for a great price before the tariffs kicked in. I've had good luck with their products in the past.

Yes, I know that but then the piston must be screwed back into the caliper body before new pads and rotors can be fitted.

Finger strength - eh. Thumb - eh.
Use the same tool you used on the front - push straight in.

Not sure if that VW tool is too specific, or you think a normal generic tool and using old pad is not specific enough.
Manual does say NOT to use a C-clamp, as you can damage the EPB component on the back.

Thanks, my vw caliper tool is a typical type screw-in tool with a nut with "nubs" that fit into the slots on the pistons. The nut Is attached to the main screw with an allen set screw and fit many vw calipers. I used it when we had a vw egolf and Passat TDI and fabricated an adapter nut that worked on chevy volts. All required the piston to be screwed in to retract. I also made a flat faced pad that fits the nut to compress front caliper pistons so I'll use that.

Aren't the rear caliper pistons electrically retracted? You need to put them into service mode, or disconnect the electrical connector and retract them with jumper wires and a 9v battery

No to electronically retracted for new pads.

Yes to service mode (so the EBB doesn't fire off), and disconnect the EPB module (so it doesn't fire off).

I posted the instructions on the install part, not the remove part. Because several posts already mentioned the 2 items.

That picture is from the service manual - stating and showing pressing in the piston.
