UPDATE: I'm realizing my questions can't really answered so feel free to basically skip to this post:

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...letely-useless-bed-extender.42715/post-762469

Can anyone confirm that I have the wrong parts? I have a 2023. Here is what I have:

Ford Maverick Realtruck provides completely useless bed extender MALkfvU

If you look at this youtube vid (I advanced it to the right spot) the bracket that goes behind the tail light looks very different. I know this is the ford branded extender but I believe the ford branded one IS the Lund. unfortunately the commonly linked youtube vid for the Lund does not include the process of affixing these mounting brackets. why would someone skip the most important part of the isntall? I don't know.

I received this bed extender from RealTruck and the online help told me I had to call a phone number because the bed extender was part of a promotion. I'm not sure why the promotion team would be involved with getting me the right hardware but in any event before I sit on hold for a while I wanted to confirm my suspicions.

That is not what mine looked like.
The one in the video is what my kit had.

did yours have threaded inserts built into it? that's kind of what I'm expecting it to be.
Installed mine last week, the one shown in the video is what mine looked like. The brackets are threaded to accept the three screws for the mount that is attached on the bed walls.

did you get it via the same promotion through real truck? I ordered a trifold cover and this was a freebie.

the box says "universal" but I figured they had some customized hardware in these.

so a different realtruck cust support person told me to contact Lund so I'm now doing that.

Has anyone received the lund branded version of those lately and have the box to look at? Mine just says universal.

ah, so Ford branded. hopefully the Lund is exactly the same minus the Ford branding but I guess I'll find out.
The video you referenced is for the Ford extender...I do believe.

right. I posted it because it was the only good shot of the mounting piece that goes behind the tail light that I could find. I had heard the Lund was the same except no Ford logo. I mean, the Ford one is marketed as Lund brand on the Ford accessories website.

so looking up the part number I think this bed extender won't even it in a maverick because it says it's for "full/mid" sized trucks. I can't believe realtruck would offer this as a "bonus" item along with a product (my trifold) that only fits the maverick. I'm hoping I'm wrong on this and it will get sorted but it's not looking good right now. I don't anticipate Lund has much reason to help me out since they weren't the ones offering the deal.

Updating the thread title so maybe someone at realtruck will pay attention. I tried going through their customer service and didn't receive any useful information. I contacted Lund about a week ago and crickets.

Here is the deal, I bought a trifold cover from Realtruck and the deal was they would send me a free "lund bed extender". Silly me assumed they'd send me something that would fit on a maverick since Lund does in fact make the Ford branded bed extender. Also, since I'm buying a cover FOR A MAVERICK I might expect the bonus bed extender to be something useful to me and not some guy with a gmc sierra. but as far as I can tell this bed extender will NOT fit on a maverick.

The Q&A and amazon reviews here seem to indicate this product won't work on a maverick.
https://www.amazon.com/Lund-Motion-Universal-Xtender-Research/dp/B07M7LR4W9

And the description says it's for "mid/full-sized" trucks which the maverick is not.

I'd love to provide a definitive answer here but as I said, I'm getting no real support from realtruck or Lund. It would be great to know if I should just try to sell this thing as new/open box so it stops taking up space at my house.

If I'm right about this not fitting the maverick that's pretty shady BS from realtruck offering it as something I'd want to entice me to buying a product from them.

Here is the extent of the information I had about the product I would be receiving:

Claim a free Lund Bed Extender with the purchase of a
BAKFlipMX4 Truck Bed Cover
Between November 22, 2023 and November 28, 2023

That's it. See attached PDF.

Some bed extenders are designed to telescope in or out depending on the width needed. I can't tell if that one does. It looks like Rough Country makes one, although it doesn't come up on their website that I could find.

Lund may make the Ford one but it may be under exclusive contract that prevents them from offering it in the aftermarket.

I was surprised recently to learn, as a former Truck Hero brick and mortar dealer, that RealTruck is the new TH identity and that the former TH brands (Extang, TruXedo, BedRug, UnderCover, Advantage, Retrax, BAK, A.R.E., N-FAB, Husky Liners and Rugged Liner, as well as online retailers, including AutoCustoms and Real Truck. ) have all been collapsed into RealTruck.

that's what I figured might happen but when I started looking at the mounting hardware things weren't adding up. then I noticed the instructions referenced specific vehicles and the maverick wasn't one of them. it would be somewhat challenging to screw in the brackets without something designed to go on the backside on the mav because you are already having to reach into a somewhat small hole behind the taillight to do it.

at this point I don't want to go to any great effort to find out if it works at all because I'd have to fully unpack everything which would make resell a little harder. as it is now I can honestly say all I did was unpack the bracket and some mounting hardware and then put them back into their respective bags.

if Lund or realtruck could actually provide some useful info or support that would be great.
