That would not have been a first for Ford. My 1983 Mustang convertible was ordered as such from Ford, but Ford built the car as a coupe with no interior which was to be installed by the American Sunroof Company (ASC) who did the actual conversion. The first year Ford brought back the Mustang convertible, they were all built this way. My Mustang has power windows up front, but cranks in the rear as regular coupe Mustangs had fixed rear side glass.
