Radio won't shut off

This is weird.
But this is what can happen when everything is computer controlled.

My radio will not shut off.
I had to go into work.
I could not stay and wait to see if it times out in 10 minutes or 20 minutes or 30 minutes or whatever.

Stuff like this may account for some people's low/dead batteries and/or deep sleep mode.

Had maps on and radio became unresponsive . waited until next stop after disconnecting maps . all went back to operating normally .

Usually opening the driver's door with key out cuts the power tho.

Shows how much software is involved.

Thats funny, sorry its not funny, Mine wont turn on it freezes sometimes, even when I turn the fan on sometimes it will freeze and the music will be playing and I will have a fan speed stuck on the screen a big 5,6,7 what ever the fan speed is set at. then sometimes it wont let me change the radio station, than some times with my phone connected using the NAV on google it freezes, was on a road trip and the nav stuck and really needed it, it was frozen.
called my dealer said to disconnect the battery it should work, yea sure am going to pull over on highway and disconnect the battery, after I got at my destination I let it sit checking every 15 min. or so after a hour or so it started working again. I'll get it looked at when I go back for all the recalls. Good luck with yours. worked at dealer long time we had people drive in that couldn't shut vehicle off , key in hand vehicle running so your lucky.

That's exactly what mine did. I went back to the dealership and they unlocked it. Whatever software they installed earlier as a fix to a recall, they uninstalled then reinstalled. It works now.

Thanks. They fixed it after another hour and a half round trip. I asked if they'd give me one of their $69 Maverick tee-shirts for the inconvenience but they said no.

Just Say No to Radio!

In my 300 years of driving I've never understood why people like to distract themselves from road noises - think about the safety! not to mention hearing loss naturally i blame the audio industry and that damn rock n roll that perpetuates noise pollution on our roads. hopefully your dealer can just remove the radio entirely so you don't have this problem anymore
