Greetings everyone I am a brand new maverick owner 2026 hybrid lariat carbonized gray. I am looking into adding racks mainly for the purpose of holding surfboards. I have looked at the elevate system and that seems quite popular. Wondering if there are any surfers out there and what systems they have used ? Also looking for a tonneau cover, but there seem to be so many options and differences of opinions. Security would be the main reason but sounds like they’re not very secure? Also surprised that the Maverick does not come with the keypad entry, but it looks like it can be added on. Are there any Maverick owners who have the keypad entry? What do you deal with your keys? Is there a way to disable the fob so that if someone breaks into the car, they can’t just drive it away?

Thank you for your advice.

If you are using a bed rack, and want a bed cover, you'll want a rack that works with a track system like the Elevate Rack. There are several that work that way. Using a bed cover with that type of setup, you'll want to have a roll up cover of some kind, be it soft or hard. A hard roll up will be more secure than a soft cover that can be slashed with a knife. While hard folding covers are nice, they don't allow full open access while using most bed racks.

For vehicles with intelligent access keys, there is no way to disable the key if you leave it in the vehicle. Even with the battery removed it can still work in a specific spot in the arm rest to start the vehicle. Your best bet for security is some kind of dry bag/case secured on you. This is the method I use while kayaking, although I realize it is going to be less comfortable for surfing.

Not 100% sure but you could hide it in the car wrapped in aluminum foil or one of those cases that block the signal.
