Hi Folks !

New member and first post….
My 24 hybrid XLT lux Cactus Gray with BAP has a late September build date. Hope to get by years end. Not too soon to think about accessorizing right?

Leaning toward an Undercover Ultra flex hard trifold with Elevate T rails and tie down cleats. I will occasionally haul kayaks, lumber, ladder etc.
Don‘t want the efficiency loss of permanent rack systems and the Elevate system with a 4’ spread for $800. Doesn’t make sense to me.
I‘m wondering if the Back Rack original headache rack would interface with my choices? Perhaps with a hitch mount bed extender.

I haven’t reached out to any vendors as of yet, just wondering if any members have anything similar.

Thanks in advance,
Gary in S.E. Pa.

Welcome to MTC. No sure if this will help or confuse, I have the TS rails with a BakFlip MX4 cover, there is just over 2" of exposed rail/track forward of the flipped-up cover. If Back Rack can offer brackets that can bolt down on top of the rails here, maybe you can make it work. Plus, you could lose the trim piece at the forward edge of the rails, and gain another inch of track.

Thanks for the welcome and your advice and illustration.
Ive seen that Back Rack offers adapter shim blocks for tonneau applications. Wondering how “clunky” the back rack would look and if any members have gone this route.
I do want utility however. I will soon consult a vendor to discuss product compatibility.

How long have you had the Bak Flip and are you happy with it ?

I've had this one about 2 years, originally on my '23 XLT, then moved it to my current '24 Lariat. I had BakFlips on previous company trucks, back then they had a tendency to absorb moisture (trucks sat outside 24/7) and got very heavy, this one doesn't seem to have that problem. FWIW, it looks like BakFlip has changed the mounting rails, to a design that some have reported installation concerns with.

Overall, I'm happy with the product.

Great information, thanks! Now my barrage of questions…

The tri-fold, t rails and cleats are perfect. What tri-fold did you use and speak to the pros and cons.

What brand of roof bars and do they go on easily without damage to door jambs ?

Again, thanks for your input.

The roof bars are Yakima Baseline . I had them from my last vehicle just needed new Clip Kit as each car model has its own clip kit. They are not cheap as they are sold in pairs but you really only need one cab cross bar and one bed cross bar. If you can find the Baseline FEET from Yakima USED then order a clip kit and can find either ONE cross bar or order a pair of new bars to save you money. as opposed to buying the whole kit outright. If you really want to go this route I can give links to the exact Tnutz upright bars you would need for the bed cross bar. . You still need to buy the Elevate Rails about 300 bucks. The Tnutz parts about if i remember correctly about 60 bucks. Or if you read through thread i posted just make TWO bed cross bars as that would be the least expensive but then the bars are not very far apart.

I have the Gator FX Tri fold hard cover. Works well with the elevate rails which I added later on about 6 months after I first installed the Gator FX . Fairly water tight. Hard rain I get a little water back by tailgate.

Still inclined to go with the Undercover Ultraflex and hopefully T-rails for tie down cleats. The Realtruck rep I spoke to tells me the Ultraflex cover is not compatible with the T- rails. Recommends the BAK hard revolver that I’m not sold on. His discount as forum member was less than
5%. Have others been told this also?

Any particular rep that members recommend ?
