Proper oil catch can / separator on 2.0

My question is will those $33. universal catch cans from Amazon be ok on the upper (clean side) of the pcv system? I read you can not use them on the lower manifold pcv because of the turbo. I have a J&L for that one. J&L even states on their Q&A that one is not needed on the upper (clean side). Anyone with any input?
