Problem with CarPlay and Phone Calls

I have a 2024 XLT.
I know this topic has come up before but I can’t find a solution that works. When I have my phone connected through the USB port and I either receive a phone call or try to make a phone call, I get dead air. The call is connected but I can’t hear them and they can’t hear me. I hang up and redial and the problem is gone. The problem only occurs on the first call after connecting my phone. It’s a minor nuisance but one I’d like to get fixed. I took it to the local dealership and they weren’t able to repeat the issue and weren’t aware of a fix.

When connected thru Bluetooth I can make calls just fine, but incoming calls go to my phone and not the car stereo. I think it’s an Apple problem because it happens when I rented another brand car. I have to quickly pull the phone out of my pocket and select Bluetooth to get it to work thru the car. Very frustrating!!

I've become accustomed to expecting to have to hang up and call back or wait for a second call incoming. It happens every time. 1st call fails. I have not done the camera recall, so there may be a fix.

I also have the radio reboot at least once during a drive of an hour or more. Every time.

I now have a challenge with making phone calls using my iPhone and SIRI in my truck (2022 Lariat) when plugged into USB, now it's telling me I need to install an additional app, yet I can pick up my phone and make the call and it goes through the Radio like it did in the past. Any suggestions???

I have the same issue with CarPlay calls. I have found that if I switch the audio source to speaker and then back to CarPlay it fixes the problem. It is a pain but better than hanging up the first call. Maybe it will work with Bluetooth as well. If I think about it, I will switch it as soon as I place a call and switch it back before the person even picks up.

You’re right. This does seem to work but like you said, it’s kind of a pain having to deal with this every time. I don’t want to be fumbling around with my phone while I’m driving.
