Probably picking up a 22 Lariat with Ecoboost tomorrow, need some last min info

Howdy, I took a look at a 22' Larait with 33k miles, FX4 and Lariat Luxury packages. Thing was super smooth and had plenty of goodies.

I'm just wondering if theres any last minutes things useful to know about these cars? Are the motors and transmissions pretty solid? Anything I should be weary of and double check before signing the dotted line?

Overall the car looked very clean inside and out. It looked like the prior owner had some fun with it.. they threw on some rally armor mudflaps, steering stabilizer under the hood and a magnaflow (which I will not be keeping). It was quick, quiet, and fun to drive. Hoping it all works out tomorrow.

Any last minute info and experiences to help inform my decision tomorrow would be greatly appreciated!

I have a 22 xl ecoboost that i got on 12-9-22, it has 28k miles and has had no problems (dealer came to the house for recalls). I recommend the maverick and enjoy mine.

1. Pay close attention to the headliner. There was a recall on the 2022s for the airbags and some of us did not have the best experience with getting everything put back together.

2. Take it down a road with undulations. Listen for any popping and rubbing of plastics, especially in the dash.

I have a 22 Lariat but only 14k miles on it so far. No issues with mine and I haven’t done any of the recalls. I downsized from a Dodge Ram and NO regrets!!

30k on mine. All recalls done at home, no issues except early on front brakes. Ford made good, no problems since.

Listen for clicking or popping around a sharp corner. The CV axels are known to fail prematurely.
The FX4 has better axels but also could have been driven a harder. Especially with the upgrades mentioned.
Roll down the windows, turn off the radio and listen to the truck for any unusual noises.

The part under the hood isn't a steering stabilizer, it's a brace to stiffen the front clip. It can improve handling and reduce cowl shake, which doesn't seem to be a problem on the Maverick. It's something that performance-oriented owners like to do.

My '22 XLT has been fairly flawless other than the recalls, all of which have been done except for the rearview camera. I have less than 15K miles on it after 3 years, though.

Have the dealership (if it's a Ford dealer) run the service history and confirm that all applicable recalls have been done. The rear camera recall won't have been, since that's still waiting for a fix.

Personally, I can't see any reason to ditch the exhaust. Magnaflow is a good brand and, if it's quiet, why not keep it?

My assumption was magnaflow based on some quick google results as I couldn’t find any logos. Looks like it could potentially be the ford “sport” exhaust? I don’t really know. As far as after market exhausts go it isn’t crazy loud and riced out but I would def prefer it to just be quiet. IMO putting exhausts on cars like this is like putting lipstick on a pig and just doesn’t make sense. So if possible I think I’d try to do a straight trade with someone else who has a stock exhaust

In that case, just change the muffler to a quieter one. No need to replace the whole kit. Check the configuration of the muffler (entry and exit points and size of pipe) and then find a stock muffler that fits those specs.

I agree with others, if it's quick and quiet, leave the exhaust alone. Who ever is selling you the Maverick should provide a CarFax and/or Ford service records. They may show if it is a Magnaflow exhaust. I have a 2022 XLT that I ordered and received on Nov 11, 2021. 36,000 miles, all recalls except last one on backup camera, have been done at dealership with no problems. My brother and best friend have both purchased one after driving mine. One of the strongest vehicles to hold it's value.
