No, you're not missing anything. Most folks would never miss it.

For $10 and a few minutes to put it together I figure it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I'm thinking of going crazy and putting USB A and C in the other side. But I'll need another pig tail.
I was going to give you a link for the pigtails I bought (but ended up not using) that had smaller gauge wire, but for a usb port would be great, but they are currently unavailable.
I put in a 12 volt port and a couple usb A Q.3 ports in my cubby. I also added an SLA battery and charger so that 1) I have power all the time, and 2) don’t use the truck battery to power things. The 7AH battery I bought fit perfectly with a little foam for padding. I bought the Q.3 usb ports so I can charge my laptop, my tire inflator or anything else that plugs into usb. Since the bottom of my cubby is full of wires and a battery, I installed my outlets facing up on the shelf. That way I can still use the upper half for storage, and the ports all stay out of the way.
i agree with OP about having a connector is good even if I end up not using it because it is there if I do need it, I can plug in any 12 volt accessory, like my mini mini fridge (yes, 2 minis. It holds a 6 pack) and for 10ish bucks. Why not?

If you have or know anyone with a 3D printer, or have a library that prints, get one of these printed in petg. Probably only cost a buck or two.

I have been looking for something exactly like this. The mount on the ones at Amazon and Auto Zone are just a little too short to set with screws. Regarding 3D printing: if I take this to a library for printing, do they just need the downloaded zip file to complete? Thanks

I have never printed at a library, but the file you are looking for is an .stl file. My guess would be that they would take care of the slicing and converting to gcode for the printer to read. Hopefully the library has someone there that is good at/understands 3D printing because I have heard horror stories of bad prints that people have gotten from their libraries. Good luck!
