My search for info on deodorizing the ActiveX (pleather) seat material was unsuccessful, so I apologize if this has already been answered. To me it smells like the material was stored in a cattle barn (before you ask, yes cow poop and not other animal's poop... it has a unique "fragrance").

I'm hoping to find a way to deodorize it. Any confirmed solutions will be much appreciated. I am one of the lucky MTC members with an excellent dealer, so I may see what they think about an ozone treatment.

How long have you had your truck? I don't have a smell on mine. Might just need to let it air out.

I got it Feb 2024. It spends most of its life in my garage, and I don't drive with windows open, so I could try letting air out when weather permits. I've seen others mention the same odor, so it may be one of those things that some of us are more sensitive to than others.

I don't get that smell from my ActiveX seating but in less than 2k miles my new truck smell is gone and replaced with a "different" smell. I wouldn't describe it like you have (cattle poop) and it isn't offensive to me but it doesn't scream new vehicle either.

I only wipe my seats with a microfiber cloth and very hot water. That has seemed to soften it up a tad and again I am not getting that smell.

leave the windows open while it's in your garage. open the garage door when the weather is nice. the more it gets to air out, the more it will dissipate. could also try frebreeze or other "odor neutralizers" though it's more likely they'll just mask rather than eliminate the scent. the most helpful thing is going to be air movement over the surface, for that you need fresh air going in, stinky air going out. closed up in a garage isn't going to help that.

True. That's exactly what I will do, starting today in my driveway. We're having an unseasonably warm day here in eastern Iowa (80 degrees) with 25 mph wind, so that will give it a good airing out.

I wonder if the ActiveX seating is the only source of this odor. My XLT w/cloth seating is only 6 months old, and it never really had what I consider "new car" smell. It's somewhat "barnyard"-like at times as well.

Good point. Maybe more than the ActiveX.

I once had to help someone with a computer issue and they kept saying, "it's acting like it is not plugged in." So, I naturally asked, "well, is it plugged in properly?"

I might as well ask the obvious: do you happen to work on a farm that could have allowed something to be tracked in?

any "new car smell" is likely the outgassing of all the plastics and man-made materials in the vehicle itself. most of them generally not good for you to be inhaling anyway. airing out the vehicle until that smell is gone is probably better for your health.

I know the new car smell, at least Toyota Avalon new car smell, which was very pleasant on the three I bought over the past 19 years. My Mav is something else again.

Get some vent shades and leave the windows cracked open. I never shut mine are always open a little when parked. 24 -7 ( unless it's snowing blowing snow gets in). I like to keep it aired out and smelling fresh.

You paid thousands of dollars for that smell. It's called new car smell. It will dissipate over time.
