For Authority posted an article with photos of a Tremor towing. It's got a Featherlite single axle. That thing probably weights about 1,200 lbs empty.

Interesting that they would be towing a trailer that heavy. Since tow weight includes weight of passenger in vehicle, assuming it's one person in truck that leaves 400 lbs for cargo. Maybe there's not much in trailer. Or maybe they are seeing if that can up the tow capacity...?

And am I mistaken or do I see a 7 pin plug near the jack handle?

I'm seeing what is probably a 4-pin to 7-round RV adapter.

That's what I was seeing as well. Wouldn't that mean they are bypassing the trailer brake of the trailer? I'm far from a towing guru so not super knowledgeable on what that impacts on the trailer side.

Correct, but if the trailer, as-loaded, did not exceed 2000#, not many people would be using electric brakes on the trailer anyway. U-Haul doesn't put their surge-brake system on trailers until you get to the tandem axle 6x12 units.

What matters at the end of the day is how sad it is this vehicle only has a 2000 pound max towing capacity

The only thing that tow weight takes from your cargo capacity is the tongue weight. So a 2k trailer and 10% tongue weight would leave 1k for cargo and passengers.

Correct

The only thing that tow weight takes from your cargo capacity is the tongue weight. So a 2k trailer and 10% tongue weight would leave 1k for cargo and passengers.
Thanks for clarifying.

Looking up GCWR, it's 6,145 max. AWD weights 3,731 dry. A 16.5 gallon tank of gas about 130 lbs. Add a 2k trailer and you only have 284 lbs for passengers and cargo. Hope you don't have anything in the bed or passengers beyond the driver if you are towing max.

I was hoping pictures were showing they are figuring out how to get the Tremor to tow more but talking through it no evidence that's happening.

You would think they could afford a hitch that wasn't rusted out
Who cares, its just surface rust on thick ass metal. For testing. I got a Hi-lift jack that sits exposed in my comanches bed. It was rusted out when i got it out of a jailbirds storage unit in 2009. I use it atleast once a week and its handle twice a week.

Remember when that guy towed a full sized truck on the bed of a huge trailer? Wouldnt do it everyday, all day, or for very far, but I wouldnt be worried about towing a little over the rating for a short trip. Flat land whatever, mountains ehh maybe think about it. Yall with your calculator and complaints are just getting exhausting.
