Let me know what happens. I've been using the charging for awhile now on my commute and my iPhone does get quite warm by the time I get to work (~40 mins). Took a much longer trip last week (~3 hours) and the iPhone shut down saying it was too hot.....
........ So I'm thinking of just going back to a wired connection hoping all those issues will go away but I don't want the wireless charging active anymore as that is a convenient place to put the phone...
Convenient cell phone storage and cable charging idea.
Even though my XLT does not have wireless charging. I wanted a more convenient place for both my wife and myself to Stow our phones and also be able to charge them at the same time.
I found this Mabett console tray with side saddle cell phone storage area and power cord cutouts. I have the power cords connected to the rear of the console. Along with my Android auto USB plug. We found it very convenient over our 4th of July trip.
Obviously this may not work for everyone, but it works for us.

I just wish Mabett would have made this in Orange.

I know there is a competitor who makes this tray in Orange, but it does not have the power cord cutouts. šŸ™

Took a much longer trip last week (~3 hours) and the iPhone shut down saying it was too hot. I've also been having problems with the connectivity to CarPlay when I get close to work which I assume is due to some RF interference coming from one of the two close by stadiums or the train yard, causes Carplay to reboot and stop working every time. So I'm thinking of just going back to a wired connection hoping all those issues will go away but I don't want the wireless charging active anymore as that is a convenient place to put the phone...
I tried out the cable this week and the Carplay rebooting issues still happen but at least the phone doesn't get hot (I also did not place the cable connected phone in the wireless charge area).

Wireless changing reduces the battery life of phones. Also 30-70% or power is lost due to resistance. The more it disconnects the worse it is for you phones battey. True for ALL wireless chragers. Stick to a plug if you care.

I’ve been reading about the new CarPlay coming out this fall and hope it fixes some of the glitches I think we all experience from time to time. The problem is I can’t identify if it’s Carplay or the truck. I’m guessing a little of both. My biggest frustration is dropping the cell phone signal when I’m listening to music then I have to fiddle with CarPlay to get some music playing again. It doesn’t matter if I’m wired or using a dongle. I keep thinking this tech is just not ready for Prime Time.
