The bed is the perfect size for 99% of my needs. But I did come across that other 1% when I trimmed my tree last week. A deeper and longer bed would have been nice to hold more tree trimmings.
I think a beer drinker designed the depth of the bed. I can stack two cases high and it fits under the tonneau with less than an inch to spare. Lol

OP - noticed you don’t have a tailgate cover; maybe check out Ford Accessories and use your points? I did and it fits perfectly!
Not a fan of that site for much but this worked out well 👍
I’ll give that a look , may be handy.

Lol. Soon as I saw the diff I said that's a foxbody. Just finishing up mine for the new England mustang mania show. My 80s ecoboost. The maverick looks like a super duty next to it. 😎

Looks great. The gt turbo and svo’s were so cool. We have our 92 coupe, the ecoboost maverick and my wife’s ecoboost 23 mustang.

Before I bought my Maverick I thought about whether or not I wanted to downsize from 1500 RAM and rationalized as others have said the Maverick will work fine 99% of the time it would and has been just fine (I didn't think about golf clubs until I got home from purchasing truck, they fit with a small amount of room to spare). I also thought I might get a small trailer for hauling yard debris etc. but when putting pencil to paper I could rent a pick up from Uhaul many times before it would be more economical. I have not regretted getting the Maverick at all.

I have never owned a full size , but we have had multiple tacomas, a diesel gmc canyon and a bronco. I have had pretty good use of those bed sizes , this is a little smaller but if I can fit my camping gear and tow a small camper, I’m beyond happy.

I only thought of Uhaul once I got to the city landfill. Doh!

I think the Maverick is a pretty versatile little truck. I have used it to haul furniture and 25 bags of mulch from Lowes. When I needed to replace some 16' decking boards, it came in handy. Now I could only haul a few at a time, but feeding them through the sliding rear door worked but they did hang over quite a bit. Good thing I only had a mile to drive on a neighborhood street. So far so good.

Oh I’d love some afr heads , maybe down the road . They are so expensive unless you find used ones, they still aren’t cheap. I’m just doing a basic rebuild on a 302 for now, the car is a 4 cylinder and converting to a v8.
I built that motor when I moved back to Ohio after leaving Maui. I went from making $12 an hour on the island to being unemployed for 6 months, to making $32 an hour building fence around Wright Patt AFB. I basically just ordered something shiny from Jegs every paycheck!! Thank god for Obamas infrastructure bill or I may not be the MaverickMan I have become today. Probably still be just a dirty guy living in a van down the river.

It’s expensive to live in a van down by the river these days . Inflation is nuts.

These kids just dont know how to do it anymore. When I did I had a coleman stove that ran on unleaded, a small inverter and a spare battery, for lights and playing duckhunt on my NES, buy dented cans and cheap bread, and always shut down the motor on the downhill while coasting in drive and let torque converter restart the motor while you are still at some speed. I dont know why C6 and AOD Fords worked like a manual but they did.

I know a lot of people are getting large loads of soil or rocks and doing home improvement which I’m all about.

But I’m not there yet, I pretty much bought the maverick for Lowe’s trips and picking up car parts. I couldn’t ask for any more.

I would definitely get a bedliner if I were you

Made 2 big hauls few months ago. 2 truck loads of organic dirt. Then truck load of river rocks. Ricks load estimated to be 1,500#.

My tail gate n bed spray lined, but to ensure a clean bed, laid down tarp over the bed before front end loader dumped the stuff. Makes it easier to clean the bed. Didn’t have far to drive loaded as it was.

I think it's the perfect sized bed for old farts like me who are starting to get stiff body syndrome. You can reach everywhere in this bed, either from the back or the sides.

I did reinforce something I already knew (I was being a deliberately poor loadmaster). I picked up fifteen 40 lb bags of lime and I let them load it at the very end of the truck, aft of the wheels. That's 600 lbs.

Any loadmaster will tell you that load belongs in front of the rear wheels. Since I only had a one mile slow speed drive I cheated for easy loading and unloading. Let me tell you, that rear end was really squirrely. going home at 35 mph. Wiggling left to right like a hula dancer.

That's not slamming the Maverick. The designers never meant for it to be aft weighted like that. It was poor operator technique on my part.

I had a silver '84 GT way back when, then moved on to an '89 LX 5.0 in black. The 84 was nice, but the 89 was so much fun! I love me some Fox Body Mustangs!

I moved from a 2002 Silverado 2500HD which I put 300,000 mostly trouble free miles on to the Hybrid Maverick and couldn't be happier!
