Paint wear under bed rail trim

Hi all
Bought my used 2022 XLT FX4 this past Friday!
As I was doing my walk around to find all the paint chips to touch up noticed that these 2 might be from vibrating bed rail trim. (There is some play in the trim at this end).

Any body solve this problem before?

Trim looks like it is fully attached.

Having acquired it used, you don't actually know if the prior owner fitted a cap or tonneau that may have put extra down force on the moulding. Even just loading stuff on the bed top would put extra pressure on it. I would touch it up to prevent corrosion and monitor. If continues, then maybe some preventative measures. I see no marks here on my 18 month old Maverick.

Upon closer inspection, mine seem to fit more uniformly tighter. I wonder if yours might have either suffered from being compressed at some point or mine have yet to deform some over time from normal weather cycles. I have not even mounted as much as a tonnueu cover on mine.

May have had some paint repair work done by the previous owner.

I think the previous owner had a tonneau and I'm going to put a soft roll up on too to keep my groceries dry.

Mine definitely have some play up and down at that end. Just looked closer and the whole peice has play back and forth horizontal along the rail.

Some slight wear at spots underneath too.

Sigh... Might pop it off and try to shim it

For posterity... In case someone else experiences...

Popped the trim off and took some pics of the rub spots underneath.

Lot of salt on my roads in winter... Touched up what I could see
