In case anyone wants to know or it wasn't specified before here's what I figured out messing with forcsan.
To get the paddles working and the indicator on the dash you have to go into
PCM and set Select Shift Transmission to Equipped
IPC and set Gear Shift Indicator to Enabled
IPC and set Select Shift Tech to Enabled

I found out that last one will let you hold the gear longer since before changing that it would shift to the next higher gear by itself before I could do it with the paddles.

1697394822877.png

Now i will be adding the Ford Maverick 2022 XL since thats the one i drive . Mine already has Cruse Control added and other switches. Notice this one on the PCM Shows it already comes with 2 wires for the up shift and down shift on XL model its false the diagram i had to add all 3 wires.

1697395331049.png

Connector from clock spring to steering wheel shows pins could be added for the steering wheel .

1697396966220.webp

Now i will add process . and pictures Start By removing Negative Battery Terminal.

And remove Air bag From steering wheel.

1701543509646.png

you got to do both sides. once you removed be carful disconnecting the 2 air bags to clockspring connectors . use a pocket screw driver or Pick . just carefully pull clip and press on the sides with your fingers and pull up. first your going to disconnect the white connector of the horn.

1701543781094.png

once you remove the air bag you should put the wheel straight, remove clockspring connector on top and remove the 24mm bolt so you can remove steering wheel from the steering column.
1701545209042.png

1701543897384.png

Once you remove the steering wheel you should left like this.
1701544065499.png

Remove bezel from steering Column 2 bolts on the bottom. be gentle with this as this interiors on the mavericks gets scratch easily you know the drill with mavericks interiors.

1701544201234.png

Unplug all connectors on Steering Control Module and remove the steering control module 4 bolts you will see they are big black bolts torques t30 or t27 dont remember right now lol apologies. when pulling out be carefully as on the back they have notches that holds it in place.

1701544573288.png

Once you removed it install the new one that you bought for the conversion and follow the same order but before you install the bezel install the 3 pins and make the wire harness for paddle shifters.

part numbers for connector and wiring its on top.

1701544736370.png

thats how it should look like when install with ford oem terminals .

1701545032257.png

PIN 5 = upshift / PIN 6 = Down shift / PIN 7 = Signal Return needed """

1701545259707.png

Make A Hole on the rubber by the firewall your going to see a big plugged and pass the wires true it make sure to but insulation on the wires to protect from ambient and rotten.

1701545442510.png

1701545540943.png

dont know if you can see the wireloom pass true and the harness i made.

1701545609834.png

I pull the wires next to the battery and used the whole true to pass the harness to the fender well area . clean and secure cant even find it in the picture. lol
Remove front Driver side wheel and fender liner. and remove PCM dust cover to get access to connector.

1701545749303.png

remove first pcm connector the first one to the right. remove the tape cut a little bit of the insulation from factory . With care always. remove the top of the connector shield and bottom white pin protector all with care. maximun care when removing or installing terminals. as you can see i added the 3 cables alreay on the connector was kind of on a rush.

heres wiring on terminals your adding to this connector mine did not come with them but on the ford wiring it says some come with up shift and downshift terminals already on the connector be aware.

1701546297029.png

Ok, so I've sifted through this thread, amazing guide so THANK YOU to all who have contributed. I see that you essentially switch to "manual mode" just by using the paddles, which is great. My only question - How do you switch back to auto mode?

Yes it goes back to normal mode on its own. Just let off on the gas or don’t make any shifts and it will go into normal. Wish it would stay in manual for a bit longer though.

Our Gearshift module has a button that says L for low . is an abbreviation for Low, and putting your vehicle in Low will keep you in the lower gears when you drive, instead of automatically upshifting to 3, 4, or 5. Usually, the L on the Ford Focus will keep you in first gear, but in some vehicles, it will upshift to 2, but only if a certain speed is reached.

The One im getting and trying to figure out if it would work. Its the one with the M as Manual. Heres a picture of it.

Have you had any more time to check and see if this would work to get a true manual mode?

I‘ve got the wheel installed and paddle shifters working but it’s almost not worth it because the factory computer takes back control too soon. I have made all the mentioned changes in forscan. It Is nice to be able to downshift before hard acceleration or out of curves but almost useless in other situations such as say going up a long gentle incline, you downshift to the proper gear hold the accelerator where you need it but in about ten seconds the computer takes back over and upshifts to a higher gear and it’s back to lugging. At that point you can downshift again, or change it to sport. This wouldn’t be such an issue if in normal drive mode the computer didn’t shift to ridiculously high gears and force you to lug the engine while cruising. This makes me drive the truck in sport more often than not to avoid unnecessary lugging and prevent engine knock. The other thing I’ve found is that if you’re in sport and want to upshift to d7 it won’t allow it until you’re over about 63mph. The indicator will flash but doesn’t allow the shift. In this case I’m trying to upshift to get the revs down for economy say cruising at 55 but it wont allow the shift until you increase speed past a certain limit. You can switch it to normal and it’ll shift to d8 by 55mph and lug like crazy. There’s no in between and that’s why I’d like to figure out how to enable a true manual mode.

Doesn’t the mustang have a manual button that if engaged keeps the computer from taking back over like in this video?

Yes. The problem its that gear selection module can't be modified or reprogram with manual mode. I think i havent done a full research on this cause i been busy with other stuff.

I actually have that same rotary dial from a ford expedition . But as you can see it comes with the shift buttons. The issue will be finding a way to mess with as built data and enable Manual mode insted of Low

Right! If we could program L to work as M we’d be in business. And, thank you for sharing your knowledge on all this, it’s been a great help. The reason I signed up here is for this thread lol. I appreciate it.
