I'm excited at what I see with the Maverick, but not sure at this point it is enough to make me get rid of my '03 Explorer Sport Trac. I really like the idea of a 40mpg hybrid but..

-The ST is paid for - no car payments
- The ST is very close to the size of the Maverick with a 4ft bed.
-The ST has a more powerful V6 engine.
-The ST has on-demand 4WD. (And is a beast even in heavy snow).
- The ST probably has a bigger rear seating area.
- The ST is an XLT model with all the power goodies, power rear window, cruise, etc.
- The ST has about 136K miles
- Other than a few minor transmission leaks, the ST still runs great.

Yeah...I'm excited about the Maverick, but did I mention the Sport Trac is paid for? 😄 I love the new tech on the Maverick and would love to get 40mpg, but just can't see getting rid of something that in many ways very similar, in a few ways better equipped, is a solid 4WD performer, and has been very good to me. A major mechanical failure could quickly change my mind but right now I'm not getting in the order line.
I happened to have parked next to a sport Trac up sat my in-laws on the weekend, and had checked out the specs. I was surprised how small the bed is, 6 inches shorter than the maverick, despite being the same total length as my ranger!

I also noticed that whether you compare the hybrid to the v6, or the 2.0 to the V8, the maverick beats both engines on power to weight, it is almost 1,000lbs lighter! Even with the 2.0 you'll probably get 6-8mpg better thank the sport Trac!

I'd probably be in the same boat with keeping my ranger, if it weren't for the fact that my wife simply hates riding in it (and we are looking at going down to 1 vehicle), and right now I can trade it for about 10% more than I paid for it in December 2019.

I'm hoping the inflated prices for used vehicles last long enough for the Maverick to be out. A good trade-in or at least a private party sale would help to give me a good down on a new Maverick.

My 08 Frontier is starting to turn into a money hole with the little issues here and there that continually add up. I wasn't necessarily looking for a replacement but this ticks all of the needs boxes for my use case and has a lot of the wants in there too. I'm fairly simple and don't need anything extravagant. The selling point for me is decent enough back seat space, a bed that I can put the dogs kennel in on trips plus luggage, and ultimately the gas mileage is the biggest plus for me.

You can not even test drive Corvette C8 in dealer stock, you can not even sit in it, unless you bought it, lol, But I could test drive latest Lambo Evo, Porsche Taycan and McLaren. Of course you need to show up in something suitable.

Same for me. My 08 f-150 has cost me a few thousand dollars in repairs this year, and on Sunday I replaced the lower ball joints and upper arms myself to get me through the next few months until I get my Maverick. My wife was annoyed I did that, but I didn't have much choice as I was feeling it wasn't safe to drive, and didn't want to try to sell it in that condition if it managed to limp through somehow.
