The secondary latch is not an issue when you know where it is for specific car. two pulls is not complicated, on BMW M2 you even need to pull two times to open driver door and two times start/atop button to stop engine and then turn off ignition, lol.

So you are adding, not replacing some other car you have in household. That is very rare, just be ready for thing called "favoritism". It would not be too long before you start using one you like the most all the time and other will just collect dust.

I am planning to replace my 2021 Crosstrek Limited with Maverick. I am over 30K miles on CT already. It will be close to 40K by the time Maverick arrives. Efficiency is critical for me, so 40MPG would be awesome upgrade.

I would not bet on Toyota anything of value. By the time they release something, you would need Maverick replacement.
