So I've been reading all the posts about what has, is, and isn't happening with ordering a Maverick. I've come up with an analogy that I think "explains" it in layman, or as it is, "sportsman's" language.
So, you're wanting to be on a football team. You apply to the team.
You put in an order for a Maverick.
You get accepted onto the team.
You get the order acknowledgement email from Ford.
You're now on the "practice squad."
Ford tells you you're "in production."
There's no room on the starting team currently.
You're still "in production."
You get a uniform.
You get a VIN.
Coach says be ready to go in the game, but you are still riding the bench.
You get a "Scheduled to Build" notice.
Coach says go in after the next play.
You get a "build date"
You're on offense and your team fumbles the ball. Sit back down.
Your "Build Date" gets pushed back.
On-side kick recovered by opponents. Keep your seat.
Your "Build Date" gets pushed back, again.
You get in the game!
Your Maverick gets built!
You run the ball 99 yards and get tackled hard on the one yard line.
Your Maverick is in shipment, held at the holding yard.
Paramedics come to your aid, carting you off the field.
Your Maverick was recalled.
Ford mechanic takes the ball the last yard for a touchdown!
You get your Maverick!!!
